Mould on curtain liner
Help! I've just removed my winter curtains and noticed that the cotton liners have black mould in a couple of places, they've obviously been touching the windows and got a bit damp. I've tried spot cleaning them with Vanish but that didn't help. I really do not want to unpick the stitches to remove the lining 'cos it would…

How little can a family of 5 manage on weekly?
Hi all, I wondered what the lowest amount per week (ie food, spending etc) a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 big teenagers) has managed on, without eating dust! Also, there seems to be a lot of stuff for families of 4 with young children. I am cooking for 6 adults each night (and often an extra grandparent!) We have just had a…

Alternative to deep-frying
Hi there, I am currently following a 1,500 calorie diet to try to lose a bit of weight. No fads, just good home-cooked food with plenty of veg etc. My one point of stress is that OH and I cook a lot of SE Asian and Indian food including HM snacks like spring rolls, samosas etc. Obviously these are now totally out due to…

Birmingham Knitting
Hi Guys, Does anyone know of any decent wool/yarn shops in the Birmingham area? My two local ones have recently closed :( I'm fairly new to knitting and would prefer to be able to pick my yarn by hand rather than buying off the internet all the time, and I find it hard to pick the right shade. I ventured to house of fraser…

HELP Mould inside my washing machine - eeeuuuuwwww!!
I have just moved back into my house after renting it out for about 7 months to find that there is mould inside the washing machine drawer, and from what I can see, it goes down into the internal pipes of the machine. How on earth have they managed it? And how do I get rid of it? I have tried a boil wash but it seems to…

Last Week was a nightmare, we celebrated getting our first mortgage with a take-away, but two days before we'd had supermarket pizza... ... anyway, a new week now :) DD has her Christening on Sunday, So I am feeding the godparents and family HM Curries afterwards. How to stop clothes badly creasing in washer dryer?
Hello. Never used this part of the board before so I apologise if this is the wrong section.:o We have a washer dryer and I usually use it to both wash and dry clothes in one go (it makes it easier and less exhausting for me). However, everytime our clothes come out very badly creased and I was wondering if there was any…

Curtain advice please
I have been given a lovely thick pair of lined curtains but they are too short, they are also extremely wide (they have a join in the centre), would I be able to turn them round to use the other way or would the join in the middle look silly half way down? I was wondering if anyone had done this and how difficult it was, I…
