Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

morning BB and DundeeDoll and all who follow!

I'm just having some toast to see if it makes me fele a bit better - supposed to go to work later but still not 100% so might ring in if I dont pick up a bit - got a thumping headache but have taken some pills so its a case of wait and see.

Washing is hung on the airer as its a bit glum outside.

Did our shop at Aldi yesterday, DH was amazed at how much we got for our money so providing we like the stuff we may go there more often.

    (((hugs))) to anyone feeling poorly.

    take care all x

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Thanks everyone for the good wishes for DS2 - he's almost recovered and back to his oldself - except where he hit his head is still sore x

BB - you're a better woman than me to get up and make fry up at that time of the morning, guessing he must have been a very good husband to earn that one!!!;););)

Dull and overcast here but rain has at last stopped, everywhere still really soaked so will take a while to dry up, DH up and off to work stupid early.

Will be heading to the bank and then food shopping shortly, want to get some jobs done too, have a good pile of ironing to get through, so if I can get that done I'll be pleased, will make some more HM bread at some point today too and may do some baking.

Dinner last night was chicken pieces with a rice dish, that I made up as I went along - seemed to taste ok, added onions, mushrooms, and peppers also used a flavoured stock cube to cook rice, then stir fried the whole lot together, made a nice change from potatoes etc. Dinner tonight will be spag bol and HM bread.

Haven't seen or heard from my friend for a couple of weeks, and am now concerned about her, sent a text message yesterday evening, she doesn't generally text back but will ring or call in so hoping I'll hear from her today - if not I'll go round to her house. I normally see her in passing around and about town etc but haven't seen her doing that either, hope she's ok.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

  • Good morning all,
Dull and windy here today. No point putting the washing out, so on the airer again.
DundeeDoll, taplady, hope you both feel better soon.
nmlc, hope you manage to contact your friend.
I'm having a lazy day today. Hubby is in bed as he is on nights, so no real housework as such just incase i wake him. Thats my story so i'm sticking to it :rotfl:. I do have some ironing to do.
Girls are having hm cottage pie which was frozen and hubby and i are having baked liver. Will do the usual veg and potatoes.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Good Morning All

Hope you feel better soon Taplady, certainly some horrible bugs going round at the moment.

Not posted on here lately - everything has been too hectic. Have another busy day planned today. We are going away for the weekend tomorrow so need to clear my ironing pile. Clean out the animals and take DD food shopping as she is staying at home. Would like to get the house a little straighter too. Need to go to work tonight to pick up some forms.

Have been working in my office this morning getting the essentials done. Just need to do a couple of invoices them am out of here.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight, will have a route around the the freezers, then after tonight no cooking for 3 days:j

Hope you all have a good day and a fantastic Easter Weekend x

    Morning all
I'm off to work at 8:30ish, hubby's already been dropped at work, fish fed, DW unloaded.
My Easyo arrived y'day so I have a batch of yogurt made, I love yogurt but find most bought yogurts too sweet.
Tea tonight chicken & ham pasta bake.
I should only be working half a day so I will start on my DD's shrug this afternoon.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning all! Had a wonderful day in london yesterday :) we did a tour of the globe and the clinks (the oldest jail) It was so much fun, finished off with dinner at Ed's Diner (had a right blast through the ages!)

Didn't step foot in a shop, did lots of walking and everything we did was on a 2 4 1 so the entire day including travel cost just over £30!

Next time I want to go to the Imperial War Museum as they have an exhibition on 'family life' in the war. I may go myself one saturday.

Today I have lots of housework todo, the electric man is coming round at 3/4ish, pup needs walked, I need a long soak in the bath and to chill out!!

Not sure what dinner will be yet, got plenty in from shopping so will see what OH wants to do.

NMLC - hope you manage to get in touch with your friend.

Overcast and grey here, but quite mild. Shouldn't complain as we need the rain - the hosepipe ban came into force last night. Apparently, the shops are running out of water butts! If only more people had bought butts before, we wouldn't be in such a dire situation now.

Usual ironing mountain to climb today - it's not sunny though, so I won't mind being indoors. Will probably put together some sort of pasta bake for dinner. Got to pop into town this morning. DD15 is doing her Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award and we are trying to find a charity placement for her. We have a local volunteer centre in town that co-ordinates all the voluntary places. Trouble is, she is too young for most of the placements. Helping out with a rainbow/brownie pack seems most likely, but she doesn't get in from school until 5 p.m. and what with homework etc. it's going to be tough fitting it all in.
Anybody got any experience of this problem?

Hope those with snow are coping ok?
    Have a good day

bramble - definatlely do the imperial war musuem. its my favourite place in london. also go to the top floor i think it is and see the holocaust section. you come out of there really appriciating how lucky you are. they have a model of Auschwitz and actual items from the camp. i know its sounds really morbid but it really is worth a look.

Sorry to hear about all the poorlies - hope you all feel better soon :grouphug:

Yesterday's snow almost gone, thank goodness, nice and sunny this morning, if a bit cold still. Clothes might go out for a bit but will have to finish off inside over the airer. Still got tons of ironing to do, also dustbins to wash out if temperature gets above freezing!

DS, who's nearly 5, keeps asking what we're doing each day, or if it's time to go back to school - oh the joys of school hols! :rotfl:

Have a good morning all, hugs and kisses all round, see you later.
