OS Daily Thread Good Friday 6th April 2012

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 6th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all

    Happy Good Friday!

I'm wide awake for no reason :S and I have absolutely no plans for today! Think I'm just gonna do some uni work and potter around.

OS wise - WM needs to go on, dishes to wash, I may batch cook some bits if I fancy cooking.

    Have a good day all

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Bright and sunny here this morning, but we have had a frost overnight, so chilly start to the day. Have had a lovely lie-in with DH, he's now in the bath and I'm on here with my second coffee of the day!

Wasn't particularly productive yesterday although I did manage to go to the bank, called in at Opticians to order a new pair of contact lenses after my problems last week, they wouldn't order new without me having an appointment, luckily because it was so early the contact lenses guy was there with no customer so saw me straight away, did a examination and new lenses have duly been ordered and will be here end of the week, yay! Think I won't be wearing them as much though, will be taking it steady. Did a food shop at MrL and then visited FFoods - altogether spent £86 - very much less than I've been spending recently - will have to see if I can go the whole week without buying anything else! Did buy some extras in that too, so may not be a true reflection of a typical week, but may start doing most of the shopping at MrL and MrA and visiting one of the other SM once a month to stock up on the bits I can't get at MrL and MrA. Did manage to get the ironing pile decluttered.

Dinner last night was spag bol, with HM bread, was one of the best I've ever made, made the tomato sauce in the afternoon then just added the quorn mince (we don't eat normal mince) and some other tomato base, tom puree and it wasn't moist enough so made up a tomato cup a soup and put that in - was really delish! Clean plates all round and none left for a freezer ready meal. Have the traditional Good Friday fish and chips meal on the menu for today.

Will be having a lazy day today, we were going to wash the caravan, but it's water-logged and boggy where we store it so have cancelled and re-booked for next Sunday - may or may not happen then too - depends on the weather and how wet the land is. Today we'll be visiting the oldies and outlaws and DH's sister to take nephews easter egg, she moved house a couple of weeks ago so going to have a nose at the new house! Still haven't been able to get in touch with my friend - if still no contact today then I'll be taking a ride over to her house tomorrow whilst DH is at work in the morning - need to know if she's ok and if not what I can do to help.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Long time not posted!

Life is crazy here. Eliza is nearly 3 months old and is being Christened this Sunday (we have her godmother coming from Norway tomorrow and staying a week too).

To add to that, we are in the process of buying our first home :)

Its a 1970's 3 bed end terrace on the edge of a village, with a public green in front of the house, a road to the side (not busy) and the other side of the road is a field with 480 acres of woodland and a river :D

Add that the Double Glazing and Kitchen are only 10 years old. And the Boiler is 18 months old with new radiators etc! I am one happy woman... I LOVE my Kitchen :D

DS is happy that the park is down the road with an adventure part and skateboard ramps etc! We have a garage too and the parking is to the rear of the house.

We hope to move at the lastest June (the chain is us-owner-3rd party) and in July we are going for 3 weekends, 2 weeks to Norway :D

Very exciting time for us at the moment :D

I'd best be off to scrub the house from top to bottom for Sunday now...

I hope everyone is well x

    Enjoy the Easter Weekend xxx

Ps. Just hit 2000 posts and 4 stars :D

  • Good morning flutterbyuk25 and to all who follow,
Sun is shining and the birds are singing, a lovely start to the day.
I was going to go shopping this morning but by the time i get my backside into gear, the shops will be heaving. I'll wait until tomorrow now.
Wm is on and i have got to hang a load out that i did last night. When hubby gets up, he has gone to bed for a couple of hours as he was at work till 7, i will have a quick whizz round with the hoover.
Sil is home for the long weekend so i guess she will come round at some some stage. Whether it will be today remains to be seen, her time spent with us gets less and less,
Tea tonight is chicken in breadcrumbs, chips and salad.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Frosty here this morning, bright and sunny too.
We had a lazy start to the day as hubby isn't working 'til 3:30.
He's in the shower & we'll have breakfast when he comes down, I expect he'll be pottering in the garden today, if so I shall sort my food cupboards out.
I've started a shrug for DD in a yarn called Poem, I'm battling with a different ripple stitch & I think I've mastered it now, it's looking good.
Our local wool shop closed yesterday & we are getting another Estate Agents in it's place, just what we need, NOT!
Full Monty for breakfast for hubby, poached egg on an English muffin for me & peppered steak baguettes with salad for tea. HM yogurt if we want pudding.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning everyone on this Good Friday

JG - congrats on the new house - nice to see you! :D

Rather overcast here, clothes may have to go on airer as I'm off to work in a couple of hours. DS (20) watching littlies until DH home at lunchtime. I'm really behind with Easter prep - bought little gifts for kids (spring t-shirts and simple version of the Easter story), mum (book), DGS (same book as the kids) and that's it. Not spending a lot and not buying much chocolate, but will have to pop into town tomorrow to finish.

Not much OS today as I'm working, and may have to brave the SM tonight - yeuch!

Have a peaceful day, hugs and kisses to those in need; hope to pop back later.

    A xo

    Morning :hello:

Pepper the columbine chicken has gone broody. She complains when I clean out the shed, and I get a very loud telling off if I dare to collect eggs :D

I went to Morrisons last night to top up on milk (on offer, three four-pinters for £3), bread and fruit. But the main reason I went was to replace the two Easter eggs I wolfed down on wednesday. I should put an embarrassed smilie at the end of that sentence but I don't actually feel embarrassed, so I won't. There's no guilt either :D

It's frosty here but the sun is shining. I might go to the farm down the road, lean on the gate and watch the lambs.

Hot cross buns for lunch, I think :D
