Not so old style
Just saw this article and it really left me with bitter taste on how far we still have to go :( Trying to instill this forum principles to my young ones is a tough job but I am hanging there as I think long term.

What can I do with out of date Peppermint tea bags?
just found a box at the back of my cupboard - nearly 2 years out of date! :o Before I throw them out, just wondered if there was anything I could use them for - in the garden/allotment or a home made beauty treatment? Thanks!

Big bread-making boo-boo... is it salvagable?
So I've got a day off, and planned to make a home made-loaf for myself and a friend to have with stew for early dinner tonight. The stew's bubbling away in the slow cooker, and the bread is prooving in the bowl. But to my shock horror, I've just looked at the kilner jar with the flour in and realised I've used the bloomin…

That last half inch....?
Does anyone else get as compulsive as me about using up that last half inch in the bottom of a jar of jam or bottle of hair conditioner? My family think it's very funny that mum will spend time in the morning scraping out the inside of the mayo jar for a last two sandwiches rather than open another jar that day, or that…

Smelly wicker
I brought a lovely large wicker stool/footrest at a car boot sale on Sunday. I checked it out for mould and rot but seemed in reasonable condition however I have noticed that it has a funky, musty smell about it. Has anyone got any ideas as to how i could get rid of the smell?

How do I get rid of the smell of damp?
Hi My sister has a ground floor flat and it has a bad smell of damp. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this? She has stored clothes/boots in plastic boxes under the bed (unworn) and some of them after a few months are completely mouldy There are no carpets in the house and she has open all the windows she can when she…

Hand blender vs normal blender?
I want a blender for making soup - carrot and coriander is a favourite. A hand blender is only about £4 in Tesco and was what I was going to buy, but I'm also considering an actual blender which has it's own jug and stuff, at £17.99 from Aldi. Big difference in price - but is it worth the extra since it's less likely to…

storecupboard ideas website??
I remember there being a link ages ago to a website where you could list what you had in the cupboards and it would give you recipe ideas... I've searched some of the threads on here and tried to find it but I can't... :( I don't suppose anyone knows what website it is I'm on about?? It would be really handy right now!

A challenge - recipe suggestions

Cake carrying solution?
Hi I thought I would come here and quiz all the homebakers and see if you can solve my problem. I have started making cakes for a cafe and delivering can sometimes be a bit of an issue. I use a multitude of methods, plastic lock and lock for the traybakes, plates with clingfilm for small round cakes, a cupcake carrier and…

Chore lists/everyone mucking in
I'm wondering what others get their children to help with around the home. I'm not wanting to judge anyone or anyone to be judged but my boys want to help however need very structured requests thanks to autism so they want a list. I went to write one and couldn't think what to add to it. Also if they get a reward how much,…

Help me to help my widowed Dad
Hi all I am hoping you will be able to help my rationalise my thoughts and help me to find a way through the dilemma currently being experienced by me and my sisters. Bit of history, mum died 18 months ago very suddenly, Dad is only 63 and is living in a massive 4 bedroomed bungalow, our family home for 23 years. My sister…
