Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 14th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
I'm up early again, but cannot lay in bed once I'm awake so here I am.
I need to have a scrummage in the spare room to see what else I can put on Ebay to help pay for a new (to me) car.
Tea tonight is lamb chops & HG veg, kettle's boiled so I'm going to make a cuppa & the packups.
Have a good day eveyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow - I too was up early letting out our new puppy but then fell asleep on the sofa ;) Today I have a pile of ironing to do whilst the boys are at school - so I'll be looking out some of my favourite DVDs to watch whilst ironing. Dinner tonight will be roast chicken with plenty of veg - and tomorrow will be chicken and veg casserole. 1st load of washing is in and coffee is almost finished, enough time for a second one before I have to get moving, have a great day everyone xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Good morning, all. A bit nippy out there this morning;the outside thermometer reads 7 degrees at the moment but at least I can see the sun rising so, hopefully, I can get the washing dry and do a bit more tidying up in the garden.

I have ironing to do this morning, and some more paperwork, then I shall prep for the chicken casserole for dinner tonight.

I hope the wet windy weather has calmed down in the UK. We've had three days of rain here but it looks like it will be dry for a few days now.

Well, I'd better go and get the breakfast things out.

    Have a great day, everyone.

  • Good morning hester, emsf73 and all who follow.
Well last night i scuffed my DH's car alongside our fence. All he kept saying was as long as your ok. I was in tears. Can't believe i did it. Got up this morning feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed. DD came in and all of her eyelashes had fallen out again. Her eyebrows are starting to look a bit patchy again too. Has put a downer on the whole day.
Emsf73, i remember getting up early when our dog was a puppy. He is just over a year now.
Going to get washing out as iit looks quite nice here. Off to work after that.
Hope you all have a good day and hugs to those who need them.

  • Morning Everyone,

I am really pleased with myself, I had enough energy to do all the chores I'd set myself yesterday. I feel much better within myself the last few days. I made my first loaf in the bread machine, but sliced it after 90 minutes (which was too soon, it was sticky) the loaf was huge and my slicer wasn't big enough.... so we had fun :)

The boys loved the bread, and I feel so good seeing their lunches and breakfast made with healthy bread. I made my own low gi bread overnight, and just put in a 'small' loaf for the boys, to see if i can get something which slices better. I won't slice my new loaf until its cooled 6 hours today to ensure less moisture inside.

Today I have to tidy the house, and sew on cub badges (which I was supposed to do monday), so a nice quiet day. DS9 is making pancakes for dinner (not for me as its not low gi), and DH is out again at 7pm for confirmation class. As I'm splitting the school run with a friend, I only have to do the afternoon today :)

Hope everyone has a good day x

    Morning all,

it chilli here, but no rain, and it looks as though the sun will come out. I am away with work for two days now, so no os here at all, apart from putting thr rubbish out this morning.

I have left OH three chioces for his dinner, so there is plenty to eat, dd is off to her best mates for 2 nights to make it easier to get to college etc, and little dog is off to my mums.

Went to see dad yesterday who slept through the whole of our visit, so I bought his soup home again, :rotfl:

Forever saving, your poor dd, bless her, how old is she ?? sending her big hugs xx

Morning everyone, feels lovely and crisp this morning. Autumn!!!!
juliegeorgina :j congrats on getting a bread machine! sounds yummy, i love cutting the bread too soon nice and gungy :D my german housemates hate bread machines, they say it gives no crust?!!! crazy german bread machines...
forever saving, hope DD is okay :( If it bothers DD and she has school etc you can put a line of light grey/brown eyeshadow along the line to look like eyelash shadow if the skin isn't sore.

I've done a load of washing on fast and will head to work soon, I just can't decide what to eat for breakfast. A puny bowl of cornflakes has never been enough to sustain me, I usually have microwave eggs and toast; huge bowl of yog, fruit, nuts & oats; kippers etc
I ended up doing quiche last night, it was in an oblong dish and about 3" deep :rotfl: I reeeeally want a small silicone loaf and a quiche/cake tin, I have zilch kitchen stuff. Not even a mixing bowl, I use my steamer :rotfl:

Morning all. Day 3 here we go.

Rain has finally stopped and I see blue sky. So dog will get an extra long reward walk for being so patient over the past couple of days. Can't climb stairs after 2 days of classes so going to give Aerobics a miss and just do some gentle yoga.

Potential new client meeting this afternoon, and DH out tonight so will try and get started on the kitchen blind.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning everyone

Bright but chilly this morning wind has dropped though. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner was quickie's last night. Have a 1 load of washing on the line and another in the WM. DS1 went to Rugby training. Working only until lunchtime today and then on days off until Monday - have busy weekend as away at big charity caravan rally, have loads to do to get ready for it, today, tomorrow and Friday. Tonight's dinner will be roast chicken, cauli/broccolli cheese, veg and gravy.

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

Morning folks, having a quiet ten mins before I head off to hosp. Really nervous - not about the procedure but the anaesthetic - cant believe how uptight I am. All going well back home tonight.

anyway - lovely morning here, rather nippy though. Will pop washing out in the hope someone notices it has to come in later today. Have made spag bol for everyone, and made a dozen scones this morning to keep me busy.

THats one sock knitted, will take my knitting with me today to keep me occupied, so should get the other one just about done. Have orders for 2 pairs so far, they are chunky knitted on 2 pins, but the way they are ribbed you cant really see it. I always change back to the smaller pins for the foot otherwise they are really large! Not sure what I will charge, as I keep thinking - oh they wont pay that as you can get socks quite cheaply in the poundshops - however these have a wool content in them and are hand knitted. The wool itself costs £4 (have some from a sale). I was reckoning on £9, a fiver clear, I know its not much profit but it is done in time I am sitting doing nothing. Any thoughts?
well must move, hope you have a good day (((HUGS))) TO anyone in need,

  • Hi Guys,

Sun shining this morning:j Got to go to Docs at 9.10. Was suppossed to have a small op last Friday, but they wouln't do it because my blood pressure was too high apparently:mad: Really cross because I wanted to get it done before my holiday (three weeks time) and I won't now.
Feeling chuffed today, Martin quoted one of my posts in his weekly email:T Never had that before!
Going to try and get my Dad to Asda today to get his photo taken for his Blue Badge. Hope I can manage him. I have enough trouble pushing myself, left alone him!:rotfl:

DG is still not walking (18 months now) Trouble is she can crawl so fast she doesn't think it's worth walking:rotfl: Talks a lot though(wonder where she gets that from?!) latest words are "Daddy, Pub, Beer" one after the other!

suzybloo- That's how I felt last week, watch your blood pressure!

Anyway, have a great day all. x
