Cake carrying solution?

Hi
I thought I would come here and quiz all the homebakers and see if you can solve my problem. I have started making cakes for a cafe and delivering can sometimes be a bit of an issue. I use a multitude of methods, plastic lock and lock for the traybakes, plates with clingfilm for small round cakes, a cupcake carrier and chopping boards with clingfilm for the larger ones.
The thing is it would be nice to have a more consistent system. I was looking for a tiered cake box or something, ideally something not too big so it doesnt take up much room and something that costs as little as pos (boxes I was recommended were £3.40 each and are huge).
Anyone got a system or can think of a product? If not im buying lots of chopping boards and just using those instead.
Thanks :-)

have you considered those mushrooms trays from greengrocers/supermarkets? they are blue plastic and stackable the shops buy punnets of mushrooms or strawberries in them. you could put the cakes in them stack them, say 3 high and put paper or plastic over the top.0

Are these carriers you need to leave with the cafe or can you deposit the cakes and bring the "luggage" back home with you?
I bought one of these from our local pound shop http://www.secure.lunex.co.uk/shop/202.html for about £5. I don't think it's absolute air tight but the one I have his huge and can fit a giant cake. (It's not very tall though.)
If you bought one of those you could use a foil cake board that fits perfectly inside leaving it no room to slide around. Ice the bottom of your cake to the cake board and then put the whole thing into the cake carrier. My Mum has a glass cake plate that is an absolute match in mine so I know it can be done, it's so good I really really really want to steal hers but have resigned to finding a duplicate.
You could up the price of your cake by a pound to cover the cake board.
I bought these to transport our wedding cupcakes http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/White-Heavy-Duty-Strong-24-Cupcake-Cup-Cake-Muffin-Box-/260803139494?pt=UK_Kitchen_Accessories&hash=item3cb91417a6#ht_1494wt_905
Obviously works out better if you can buy them in bulk (40 on eBay at £1.70 each) but you can reuse one over and over. If you wanted to extend the life of one you could spend a bit (or a lot!) of time faffing and wrapping it in contact paper so it's wipe cleanable?
Traybakes, as long as they're not iced would be great in a ziplock bag - you can buy a bunch at Tescos. Or you could wrap up lemon loafs, brownies etc in brown paper and a little ribbon to transport them?0 -

Knew I could count on you guys for some fab ideas. Will check poundland tomorrow and see what they have. The drawers idea is fab - need to measure my cakes though and see whether they fit.
Great ideas, thank you so much :-)0
