Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 13th Sept. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, breakfast eaten & fish fed.
I'm off to work soon, it's a little calmer now but still busy & still no sign of the new machines that were due to arrive during the holiday!
I sold some odd bits of gold to Hatton Gold & received £581.71, more than I expected, though I did use my kitchen scales to weigh it on & it was slightly heavier that I thought. Just my Santander shares to sell now (I got them free when Abbey was bought out) & then I should have enough to get half a car, I just need to keep saving hard.
Tea tonight is leftover chicken.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow. Not feeling too good today so not sure if my op will go ahead tomorrow - typical usually have no health problems and the week I need to be in tiptop condition I have come down with sore throat, sore ears and swollen glands, have been put on antibiotics so fingers crossed!
Thankfully the weather has not hit us as bad as was anticipated, but was still very windy. HOPe everyone that was affected are okay.
As part of my job today I am heading off out today so hopefully the roads will be ok.
Have mince defrosted for tea, but not sure which guise it will take when it comes to cooking it, possibly lasagne? not much else exciting going on - everything just seems to be trundling along.
Better move and get organised,
have a good day and ((Hugs)) to anyone needing them

Morning Hester and Suzy and all who follow,
Hope you get well today Suzy.
Today is one of those days when I have so much to do I am sure that i will run around and catch myself coming back!
Full day at work and then OH is out this evening so somehow I have got to get DS to rugby training, DD1 to ballet and DD2 to netball and then get to ballet myself! Oh well I am sure it will all happen somehow!:D
At least tea is made. We have some stew left from the weekend so that is one less thing to get done.
Hugs to those that need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
And I'm up early again! This could get to be a bad habit!
DH called in to hospital at 0100 so a bit of a broken night. Very tempting to snuggle back under the duvet when alarm went off, but I resisted. Now sitting with a cup of tea before braving the wind to take dog for a walk. Will be interested to see what kind of damage its done.
Legs very sore from yesterdays class, but I'm going to go to first Zumba class even if I hobble.
Boiler service due today, then need to get on with some clearing and work. Dinner is leftovers from Sunday so kitchen should stay relatively clear.
Have a good day all.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -
Morning everyone
Bright but still windy here this morning, temperature has dropped too. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Hairdresser came last night so dinner was later than normal. Dinner was pork chops, mash, veg and gravy. Tonight it'll be something quick as DS1 has rugby training.
Work was busy in the morning then eased off a bit in the afternoon, have to see what today brings. Morale is so low at the moment whilst we wait to find out what's happening regarding cutting our hours etc. Got a big load of washing dry yesterday and have another load out this morning, really need to keep on top of everything as have lots to do this week and next on my days' off due to going away.
Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

Good morning,
I haven't been posting on the daily as I did the bare minimum of housework during the school holidays. It was like Groundhog Day anyway - I cleaned and then the mess came back as if by magic! I have an ironing mountain to do today, upstairs needs cleaning and the house elf's playroom looks like it's been ransacked. On the plus side, anyone walking down the path and looking through the window will assume we have already been burgled and leave us alone. Oh, and I have to make cakes today as there's none left from Saturday and the elf has a school friend coming home for tea.
We have picked the last of the tomatoes and they're in a bowl in the fridge waiting to become chutney. The elf doesn't eat tomatoes, so we cooked the last lot and made them into passata to go with his pasta. He declared it "very tasty" and was very pleased with himself. We've frozen some so he can enjoy his home grown tomatoes during the winter. My autumn raspberries are producing so much fruit that there doesn't seem to be any point going blackberry hunting. There will be plenty of raspberry jam and other raspberry things methinks.
I went to the 90th birthday party of my friend's aunty on Sunday. Her 87 year old sister has offered that I can go to her house and pick as many apples as I want off her tree as she won't be using many. Woooohoooo. My apple tree failed to produce a single apple this year, but the cherry tree managed two cherries, which was twice as much as last year :rotfl::rotfl:
Take care all of you.0 -
Morning all,
Y/day DH and I dropped DGD home then set off for my hosp app. I had deceided to have the anesthetic for the Endoscopy but I was told there were no beds left so I had to be awake throughout the precedure. It was very painfull. At least I was told and given a written Patient Report there and then. I have Severe Duadenitis. They took 2 biopsies, one to test for Helicobacter Pylori, my GP will get the results in 3 working days. They didn't tell me what the other biopsie was for and that result will take 10 to 14 days. I was given Omprazole and have to take 2 a day. I'm so relieved nothing more sinister was found, I think everyone dreads the Big "C" when illness comes a knocking, especially as I have lost so much weight, that was my fear.
Thankyou all so much for your support and kind posts/pm's, you really have helped me cope. :A
The bedding is in WM, normally done on Mondays but had other things going on. need to vacume & dust our bedroom, Bathroom & shower room to scrub, vacume d/stairs and the kitchen floor needs a swish.
Cooking wise it's stuffed chick breasts, roasted carrots, parsnip chalotes, garlic etc and salad. Still have some hm apple pie in the freezer for DH's pud. Seems a few of you had toady y/day so may make that for dinner tomorrow, DH loves it I dont.
It's lovely and sunny here so will get the washing out to dry.
MRS. MIX Happy Birthday for y/day.
MOLLY & SUSIE, hope the hosp apps go well.
ROSY, how sad for your DS2, I do hope things improve once the baby arrives.
JULIE, Hope you managed to get your DB an app to see the DR.
MOLLY, Who is Mooloo ?
JACKIEO, what a waste of your time, they should have fitted you in somehow. Hope the next app goes well.0 -
Good Morning All
Suzybloo, dont you just love the law of sods - hope you feel better asap.
Had a good weekend and got lots of little jobs done, took a step backwards yesterday as in the early hours of the morning OH decided to have a kidney stone. Was rushed off to hospital and I spent the day there with him. Turns out it is small enough to pass so he was released with enough tablets to make him rattle, luckily prescriptions were sorted out on the ward so didn't have to pay.
Today am off out at lunchtime to pick up my new car, its much more economical than my current one both with fuel and tax, also DD will be able to drive next year when she turns 17. From there back to the hospital but this time for me!
Nice and easy chilli for dinner tonight then out again to drop DS off at football training, he has decided to join a team again which means weekends will all be revolving around football
Anyway, thats enough waffling from me - have a great day all.x0 -
Morning all,
Thought I would poop in some small text for today. Finally got some spare minutes to write something. I'm very busy atm. Working alot, and when I finally get some free time I use it on workout and playing footie. The last 2 months I haven't spend that much money wich I'm very happy about. But looking forward to the end of the month where I travel to Belgium for some holiday. Only counting the days.
I wish you all a great tuesday! ;o)"Sealed Pot Challenge" Member No. 938

Morning all
Bright today and a lot less windy so I have done some washing and put it on the line in the hope that it will dry before the rain that is forecast comes.
suzybloo hope that you feel better later positive vibes that tomorrow goes ahead ((((Hugs))))
Beth ((((Hugs)))) That is disgusting  But sadly typical of our caring????? NHS these days   I would have refused the procedure without the anaesthestic and probably would have punched someone if they hurt me.
Well my day has started with me and DS arguing and he has gone to college with a flea in his ear, so now I have got the right hump.
So I am off for a shower and another coffee and hopefully I will be in a happier state of mind later.
Have good days all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning Everyone!
Yesterday I had a good day (maybe not evening!), I managed to sort the washing out and tidy the house a little. Managed Mr T without fainting and got all the ingredients I need for my Bread Machine... just eagerly awaiting the delivery of the machine (it was posted yesterday!). And I managed to eat a nice dinner last night, so I am not climbing up the wall with hunger, but my heartburn is plauging me.
Last night I spoke with my Ex-Husband, his mum passed away and the funeral is Friday and I have decided that DS should only go to the church service and not the cemetery, what with him being 9. Well my Ex didn't agree, and started growling and getting agressive and shouting at me down the phone... thing is it's been 5 years since we've argued, and we always get on so well since DS is both of our main priorities... and I was so shocked that he would take it out on me, and I raised my voice and told him to learn to control his temper. Problem is he's gone into his 'pity me' place and DS is his emotional crutch and he's not thinking about what's best for DS. AND DS overheard so last night I had to sort things out with my Ex, so that DS knew it was just a 'one off' I told him that anger was part of greiving and it made his dad feel better and no grudges held!
Anyway, this morning I feel much more grateful for my DH
So today I have tidied the fridge and cupboards (men just don't know how to do these things, and i've been so sick for 5 months... and some of this stuff was 5 months out of date!) I have to sort more washing, tidy the house. I am looking after a friends 2 year old for a couple of hours today and sorting out my shopping lists...! Tonight I have DH clean all the radiators and doors and frames as I can't stand for long enough and he hasn't been dusting them while I was sick.
I can't complain, he kept the house ticking along while I was really bad and we just have to get it back to my standards again, wish I was well enough to do it myself, but we can't have everything.
Hope everyone has a great day x
