Ideas needed
I have 3 cartons of Tomato Juice that are near their 'use by' date. I would love some ideas of how to use them. I did think of using one carton with tinned toms to make soup - do you think this would work? Iris

help me choose a good basic cookbook for 13 yr old boy
This is for DS1. He's very bright and has very good language skills but is dyspraxic/dyslexic so while the contents shouldn't be aimed at kids it still needs to be clear, simple and well laid out. He loves his meat, is not keen on puddings/cream (except banoffi pie) and wants to learn to cook. (He doesn't live with me so I…

Can I save money by making my own soup?
Hi everyone, I usually eat soup most weekdays for lunch (perhaps with a piece of crusty bread) as I never like having anything too heavy at luchtimes, and usually end up spending around £2.50 a week on ASDA's own brand soups (I cant stand the 16p chicken/tomato soups) I'm really trying to save the pennies wherever I can in…

Elderly neighbours in the cold weather
Just a little note that we should all be looking out for our elderly and disabled neighbours who can't get out in this bad weather. Just sent DS up to see an old lady up the road who lives on her own, to check if she is ok. He has just come back to say that she has no food in and is not putting her heating on because she…

New kettle taste
My old faithful kettle gave up on me so I bought a new one yesterday but I can't get rid of the plastic taste in my tea.
