pasta sauce recipe?

I need to make a yummy pasta sauce for my meat loving hubby, but only have onion, garlic, passata, green peppers, red peppers, a few herbs and spices, and usual store cupboard odds and sods. Any decent recipes out there that will give it a bit of oomph and yumminess?

Are you using meat? I quite often make a bit of a spicy one by adding chilli (dried or fresh) and tabasco - depends if he likes it with a kick or not!

I made one yesterday as an emergency because we didn't have much in and it was snowing heavily. I roasted the 'last legs' peppers, red onion, 1 chilli and a few old tomatoes in the oven for 30-ish minutes in olive oil then mixed them into a batch of my pasta sauce and blended until smooth (the basic pasta sauce is onion, garlic, chilli fried off then tinned toms whizzed up then reduced down so passata would be a good substitute then season and add herbs).
Roasting the veg first gives them a nice sweetness that you don't get by frying them and blending the whole chilli seeds and all gives it a nice heat

    Hi little vics,

Those ingredients sound perfect for a pasta sauce. For oomph you could add lots of black pepper or chilli as the previous posters have suggested.
