OS DAILY WEDNESDAY 6th January

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesdayy 6th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Good morning......(((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need one, I do!!!

I have been to bed, honest, just could not sleep too much going round in my brain just now.......decisions to be made involving the family.....

So far we have no more snow, but its blooming cold outside. I was going to leave the heating on low but the blooming pipes that run under our bedroom floor creak, that does not help me not sleeping.

Today is the day we see the new consultant, I hope he has some answers for us. OH has been fine sonce Christmas Eve, typical.......

Right I am off to do some surfing, see if I can bore myself into sleeping, its the second night I have been awake half the night. I'll be like a limp doshrag later this morning.

    Morning :hello:

Went to Sainsbury's yesterday with mum, it started snowing on the way home. Mum had a couple of coffees with me, then left - it took her an hour an a half to get home. She only lives 4 and a half miles away. She said people seemed to be panicking at the wheel  I was worried about food (she's diabetic) til she reminded me that we'd just been shopping and she had 3 bags of food in the car so could eat that :D Bit different today though - I'd tell her not to leave the house. Lots of snow here. Miss and Mr tru are staying home (they work in Cardiff), Master tru is waiting for a phone call but he'll probably be home too (he's working up a hill somewhere).

Csarina, I've been out of the loop so not sure what going on with everyone, but good luck for today

Egg production is up :D We've got 2 hens laying at the mo, and I think Harry is about to start laying again. When she stopped, her comb turned from red to pink, but is turning red again. We bought some reduced cream and made butter :T It could've done with a bit more salt but was lovely :D

What else? I've been a bit lazy lately :o I've made Easter cards, they're in a box ready to be sent to my friend's shop. I won't send them for a few weeks, but its nice to be organised - I usually end up in a mess trying to get them done on time

The washing machine ground to a halt yesterday. We dismantled it and luckily it's only the brushes in the motor - they've worn away. Should cost about £12 for new ones. We have a repair shop about 2 miles away, I'll ring and see if they're open today. Depending on the state of the roads, I might have to walk there but really don't want to :D

Good morning. All the snow that fell yesterday has now frozen solid  so it's very dicey out there. I have the local radio on to see if the school is open. I'm not letting the boys leave until we know after yesterday's fiasco.

Had to take Susie Labrador to the emergency vets last night as she wouldn't stop retching. We were concerned that she had eaten something that she shouldn't have and it had got stuck. £82.25  to see the emergency vet and £42 :mad: for the antibiotics later and she has kennel cough poor thing she is feeling very sorry for herself. I re-jigged the shopping list for today to take this into account as it's a massive sum out of our weekly budget.

Still seeing MIL every day although she is asleep when we go. It feels as though she's already gone really as she can't talk to us any more.

Lunch today is omlettes and tea will be chicken & veg curry with rice & naan.

Have a good day everyone & stay safe & warm.

Edited to add: Diva has been in touch with me and she is fine but not posting today as she has some emotional stuff to sort through in her head. Love to you Diva if you're reading & I'm thinking about you. You give so much affection to everyone else so take some time to recharge your own batteries today xx

Just waiting to find out if DS school is open....I will be surprised if it is as loads of snow here about 9 inches:cool:
OH will not be able to work so no money again:eek:, it is a real worry, will have to stretch this weeks shopping to cover next week too:rolleyes:
Lots of washing to do today so TD will be doing overtime.
Supposed to be getting Sainsburys delivery this morning but not sure if it will be coming.
Sunnygirl it must seem odd when MIL cannot speak to you but have the staff told you all to carry on talking to her as she can still hear you? Hugs to you all it must be so upsetting.

    Morning everyone.

Local schools shut. We've only had about 2-3 inches of snow so why would that stop people getting to school? I am going to sound like my mother LOL but when I was a kid it had to be a heck of a lot deeper than that to get a school closed. I remember going to school and having to peg my wellies together so they didn't get lost. My mum once dragged us all the way to school on the sledge as the snow was too deep for the car.
Anyway going to take DS sledging this morning. Hewants to go outside now but keep putting him off!
Didn't do spag bol for tea so might do that for tea tonight instead.
Not much else going on. Ironing all done by H last night :T so really just cleaning.

wmf - forgive me been a bit rude and not thanked you for your PM - most helpful :D

csarina - all the best for your OH's appointment - hope something gets sorted out xx

Sunnygirl - poor pooch. Hope kennel cough goes soon and still thinking of you all xxx

Not read yesterdays thread since the afternoon so hugs to those need them. Have a good day OS or not.

Right off for a coffee and one of my orange muffins :D Can I eat it in peace without the other two hovering for a bite

    Good morning

Sorry I rushed in and out yesterday. I was offered a lift to Mr Ts (this weather brings out the best in people, doesn`t it?) As its a 16mile round trip I was very grateful. In the end went to Mr As as its closer (9 miles) but smaller. I was getting low on bread flour so stocked up on that and UHT milk, plus the usual loo rolls etc. So feel as though we can batten down the hatches now.

DH hasn`t had any work for 3 weeks now and was promised 3 days next week but due to the weather I dont think thats going to happen. Were lucky as theres only the two of us (plus the dogs) and whereas years ago I would have panicked now thanks to our OS ways I know we`ll manage. Thanks everybody:T

SG ((((Hugs)))) at this sad and stressful time.

Also hugs to everyone else whos having a bad time

Keep warm and take care (the good thing about DH being at home is less worry in this weather)

Good Morning Chums ,well it snowed again last night ,not a lot, but enough to cover the ground once more, around 2 inches.I am supposed to go to my therapist for my lymphodema massage this morning, and have already emailed him to ask what his local road is like as he lives in Burham which is out in the sticks a bit.Don't want to het stuck at the bottom of Bluebell Hill as it usually get quite a bit of bad weather there. Then this afternoon I am suppsed to go to my sis-in-laws at Bromley as her DD and two children move tomorrow to Westerham to their new home.I hope that
    A.I can get there, and
B she can move in as she has been waiting for months for a place to move into.
She sadly lost her husband last February, and apart from her Mum and me she has no one to give her a hand.I won't be able to lift much, but my car is a seven seater that will convert quickly into a mini-van, and hopefully I can get lots of her bits in the back and at least keep and eye on the two little girls and keep them amused. She has two container loads of furniture turning up on Thursday which has been in storage since March. This weather couldn't have come at a worse time really.Still we will do our best and try to get her settled in. I'm not too sure if the local schools will close today as I am also supposed to do the school run this morning. Its all go in my house I never have time to get bored. Luckily if I get snowed in by the weekend I have lots of food and supplies in so that won't be a problem.
To cap it all this week has been a bit of a nightmare ,my best friend who lives in Dartford was taken into hospital with suspected temporal arteritis and has to have a biopsy on the vein in her head done at some point this week so I'm a bit concerned for her as well. So if anyone has a hotline to the almighty say a little one for June in Darenth Valley Hospital. She is normally such a lively healthy lady who neither smokes nor drinks and has been healthy all of her life. She is a bit like me ,not a patient patient and I bet the poor nurses are being harrassed as to when she can get out.Enough of my woes, I hope everyone is wrapped up and keeping as warm as they can .I am layering up today as that seems to be the best way. When i took the boys to school yesterday I looked like a baglady but at least I was fairly warm.
Take care everyone and keep an eye out for any neighboughs in your area who might need a hand ,even if its only a knock on the door to see if they need anything like bread or milk.Where I live I am used to getting stuck inbecause of the weather but often folkdon't realise how bad it can get.
    Cheers all JackieO xx

When my late husband was in hospital after his aeortic anurisym he was in a coma for 26 hours, and both my DDs and I sat and talked to him all the time .We told him how much we loved him and what a great Dad and husband he had been and how much we wanted him to get better even though we knew he wouldn't . I held his hand all the time and now and again he would squeeze it even though he was seemingly unconcious. It gave us all great comfort and we firmly believed that he could hear us

    Morning all,

We have snow :j:D, we dont have that much at the moment, but we are due to have another 10cm this morning, dd's school has been closed as the busses are not running, and so most of the children cannot get in, I would be worried about dd getting home anyway as she comes on the train, so I am glad they have closed it.

I am off to work  today, unfortunatly I can walk there, I may be the only one in the office, I have loads to do though, OH is off to, so the two of them can do some jobs at home :D

Carbonara for tea, with some of the ham I cooked at christmas, which has been frozen, fridge is getting emptier now.

Will get OH to hoover through and mop the floors, dd can give her room a tidy.

csarina, good luck for today x

Sunnygirl, hugs to your mil, and I hope the poor dog gets better soon xx

Have fun all and keep warm xx

Jackie thinking of June xxx, hope all the move goes ok xx
