JackieO - Hope it all goes well for June today.

Have only a light dusting of snow here (at the moment) will need to keep an eye on the weather in case DD's school shuts later - she gets the bus and it has to go up a massive hill.

Plans for today - not much, DS' school is still shut and I have a feeling it might be all week. Have office work as normal but this morning am making steak pie for dinner tonight - have been craving it for ages. OH will have a small portion with loads of veg.

Really enjoyed Hairy Bikers - Mother knows best, last night - was making me so hungry while I was watching it.

Have a small amount of ironing to get done, some washing and need to wash some bedding also.

Anyway best get on, have a good day and keep warm and safe.x

Thinking of you all that are having a tough time (sorry can't remember individual names).

Really cold and still dark here, but very icy and frosty on the paths and gardens. We've been lucky with no more snow fall over night but we're supposed to be getting very heavy snow tonight, tomorrow and Friday - we'll wait and see!

Had lovely pasta last night, and remembered to get liver out of the freezer for tonight, so OH and I will be having liver and bacon casserole and DS1 and DS2 will be having something else (not sure what yet) all with pots and veg.

Only have to work this morning then that's my working week finished so want to clean the fridge out and get stuck into the washing, drying and ironing this afternoon as I'm not intending to do any chores tomorrow as it's my big birthday - had hoped to have a day of retail therapy but that's not now going to happen if it snows heavily. Have invited my mum and dad for dinner tomorrow night so hoping it's not so bad they cannot come and also I have to go and buy the meat (may go today think that will just be easier!). Want to try and give the house a bit of go over to as we still seem to have bags of kit left everywhere from being away. I have emptied the clothes bag of clean clothes that didn't get worn and have washed and dried most of the dirty ones, but still seem to have clothes and bags everywhere - how does that happen?

Work has been really busy for the last two days, I think everyone wanted to get to see us before the bad weather comes in at the end of the week. I'm now back to eating more sensibly and didn't have anything I shouldn't yesterday so am back in the zone hoping that my birthday tomorrow won't blow it, but am cooking roast chicken and roast pork with all the normal veg and roasties, will do a dessert but should be able to find something not too terrible. When we go away for our night in the hotel on Sat we are having dinner in the restaurant will have what I want but generally not a problem as very nice restaurant with proper food but will have cooked brekkie on Sunday morning. I'm so looking forward to it I hope the weather does not mean we have to change our plans.
    Have to go now.

Take care those in the snow. Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Well yesterday was a bit of a whitewash for us, was due at the hospital for the appointment for the lump on my forehead at 8.40 at DRI, up dressed sorted, looked out before getting dressed and a sprinkling on snow, time to go, snowin heavily covering rapidly, though we will be OK once we ge to to A19 - a main road! - no it hadn't been gritted and icy under the snow, after smkidding 3 times in 4WD mode going steady, turned around and called it quits. The consultant was from Sheffield and if we get an inch, they get a foot, so re-arranged now for March. Then dentist - local we could have walked - called to say no dentists had made it - re-arranged for next week.
    ##RANT WARNING##
Why can't the councils get their act together and watch the weather forecasts and grit before it snows not wait until it snows and cars are stuck and then gritters and snow ploughs cannot get through for stuck cars:mad::mad:. They should be working all night not just doing 6-10 max, and bring in extra drivers if necessary. People could then get to work, and how come they have turned down the gritters spray range so footpaths are not gritted??:mad: ##RANT OVER##
Jackie - not sure whether I have a direct line or not, but June is in our thoughts and prayers, together with everyone else going through it.
csarina - hope you get sorted the 6 months of the tablets 3 times a day seems to have sorted DH's.
EG - yes I enjoyed the Hairy Bikers too, kept saying, yes, yes, we did that, etc.
MSD - hope you manage to sort things out
H-J hope you manage to get away
OS wise, still on a use up, tonight the evening meal could be a brunch as I have a sausage, 1 slice of gammon, bacon, and pork steak to pick from. BM needs to go on, and some more washing as ever. Lunch I will make a mackrel waldorf salady thingy, with Smokey Mackrel which needs eating celery, mayo, no walnuts left so will use up the pecans, and sultanas, togethr with anything else in the salad line I find in the fridge.
    Take care

    Morning

Flying visit for me this morning as I have a MS job on the way to work (hot breakfast mmmm:D)

We have been very lucky so far over here apart from one snow fall just after christmas (which took a week to shift!) and so far the forecast looks ok if a bit cold, which I'm grateful for as I have a busy weekend ahead.

Omlettes for dinner I think - last nights menu plan went to pot when I got in I was shattered and the kitchen was freezing ....Dominoes 2 for tuesday to the rescue. I was in bed for 8:30 last night and slept til 6:30 this morning!!

Hope everyone stays safe and warm today whatever you're doing

    Morning all
No work for me, school is closed, we were notified at 10:55 last night. We have had 6 to 8 inches of snow here. I wasn't going to go in anyway, I'm still barking like a dog & my ear is still bleeding on & off & I'm very deaf. I was intending to make an appointment to see the Dr, but as I can't get the car out of the snow & I'm not walking 5 miles I'll settle for NHS direct.
MSD, take care of yourself, prayers for June, Hugs for Csarina, hope you are able to come to a decision soon & hugs for anyone else in need.
We will also not starve for a few weeks if we can't get out, the freezer & cupboards are all full, & I have lots of wool to knit & crochet.
    Keep safe & warm everyone.
    Hugs Hester.

  • Good Morning everybody,
I’ve been a bit of a lurker around here for some time so I thought it was about time I made the effort and actually posted! I’m a fairly new Oser – I got the bug in September and now I’m nearly £1,000 less in debt than I was then. Only that pesky loan to go now, which is lucky because OH and I would dearly love to buy a house. At the moment we’re living in a very small coach house and it’s a bit of a squash, especially with a 10-month-old labrador barrelling around like a lunatic!
We spent the Christmas break decluttering the house a bit and doing menu plans. The freezer and store cupboard are overflowing with food so we shouldn’t have to buy too much this month – just bits to make it up to meals. OH’s sisters sent us a fantastic Christmas pressie – a Mr T delivery! Which means we’ve got some nicer quality stuff for a change – usually we stick to the cheapest version of stuff so this’ll make a nice change. One of my colleagues has been helping out a bit too – bringing me things that she’s bought BOGOF (I REALLY hope the government don’t ban BOGOFs. Where would us money savers be without them?!?)
Anyway, plan for today is… work. Unfortunately. Dinner is already made though – did some batch cooking over the holiday so I’ve got a tub of Leek, Potato and Tomato Soup defrosting nicely. House is in a pretty good state at the moment since I’ve had two weeks off, so might actually crack on with making some birthday cards tonight! Woohoo!
Good vibes who all that need them. Take care in the snow!

    Morning peeps

very cold and icy here today, we only had a couple more inches in the night but the snow underneath is frozen so that should make for a lot of fun trying to get to w*rk later. I`m on the late shift today - BOO!

I woke at 5 with earache and haven`t managed to get back to sleep so i got up and did the ironing instead, the dw is now empty and the bedding that i washed overnight is now hung on the airer so i just have the slow cooker to empty before i take the houndies for a walk.

When i come back from their walk i shall re hang the bathroom curtains which were part of the ironing this morning, it looks so bare in there with just the roller blind so it should seem a bit warmer and more cosy when the curtains are up.

The younger houndie seems to have got the time wrong in her head and has just fetched me her ball :rotfl:theres another half hour yet before we go out so i`m in for a good time until then, she will probably fetch every toy out of her toybox lol

Right i`m off to empty the sc so i`ll catch up later.

Have a good day everyone - keep safe and warm

... I am going to sound like my mother LOL but when I was a kid it had to be a heck of a lot deeper than that to get a school closed. I remember going to school and having to peg my wellies together so they didn't get lost...

Me too - we lived up in the Pennines above Oldham. All the kids in our school had wellie-pegs with their names on, and had to leave sledges in a pile by the caretaker's house until going-home time (we lived just down the hill from the school ;))

I guess it's all down to budgets & worrying about making what grit they have last as long as possible, although I agree about watching the weather forecasts...

Hester, am hoping to get to the post office today, so you should have some reading matter soon too!
