Welcome back flutterbyuk
Diva - hope you are oK
SunnyGirl - thinking of your and yours, ((((Hugs))))
Hope you are all safe and warm from the snow It is so deep here and we are still having flurries. Came over the tops of my wellies when I was walking home from work - that hasn't happened since I was a kid, brought back some memories I can tell you:D:rolleyes:
Tea tonight is very makeshift as I forgot to take anything out of the freezer this morning. SO we are having sausages, quiche, savoury rice and spanish tortilla!!!! Bit of a mixture I know but using this as an excuse to get rid of some odds and ends that I have wanted to use up for a while:rotfl::rotfl:Have taken a piece of pork out to defrost for tomorrow to make up for it:D
Called at local shop on the way home and couldn't believe how empty their chilled foods section - no milk, cheese and they had no bread. I asked if they had not had any deliveries and they said yes but sold out nearly as soon as delivered!!!! Great for the small businesses I suppose but what an expensive way to buy supplies. I suppose we are quite lucky as our car is good in the snow so we can still get to the supermarket if we need to. Have checked with elderly neighbour and she appears to be fine and has plenty in (she always has a full pantry!)
Right off to sort this tea out. Catch up with the rest of the thread later

Snowing all day here, but was light snow/sleet most of the morning - but snowing like mad now! DS was meant to go to college tonight but he'll look at their website before setting off in case the class has been cancelled (so let's hope their website is up to date)
We went to the bucher's and baker's this morning (no candlestick maker's though) and have enough food for at least a week, and longer if I can become inventive.
I suspect DGCs' nursery will be shut tomorrow in which case DD2 will have to take the day off work to look after 2 lively toddlers. Her DH is in Leeds this week on a course so we're just hoping he can get home ok on Friday!
((((HUGS)))) to all, especially those who are ill, anxious, sad or worried about family members or friends xxxx0 -
Ivyleaf - Main roads in and out of Leeds are flowing today, albeit slower than normal. We are forecast more snow tomorrow and friday though so fingers crossed for him

Thanks hon - he'll be coming by train, so hopefully they won't be too bad. DD is a paediatric community nurse and works nights at the weekends, so she'll be anxious in case he doesn't get back in time to take over the childcare! Thankfully her children's Godmother should be able to help out if push comes to shove.0 -
Hi all, I don’t usually post, however was sent home from work so I still feel it’s early enough to post today! The office closed at 3pm, luckily I got a lift to the bus station from a colleague and got the bus home. I usually get the train but couldn’t get onto the provider’s website so couldn’t check how they were running  It’s like an ice-rink out there on the pavements, the council haven’t gritted much… Got nearly to work without slipping and falling, got to almost outside the office and both legs went in opposite ways and I nearly ended up doing the splits. Glad I recovered myself otherwise I may have split my quite tight jeans! I’ve had to re-arrange most of my appointments for tomorrow, but some people I don’t have phone numbers for, well, I’ve done my best! Unfortunately I missed my 9am because of the buses. Have checked the weather for my postcode and it says that it’s going to snow until at least Saturday. We’re supposed to be going to see boyf’s parents in Paris this weekend, I hope we can get there, mainly because I think we’ll run out of food. Boyf works next door to a large Mr S, however is refusing to go as “we don’t need anything”! He doesn’t seem to understand my point that I’d rather have stuff in and not need it than not have it and need it!
Bitsy Beans: I was thinking on the way home from work, my primary school was never closed due to snow, then at secondary it was boarding and the teachers who lived onsite had to deal with us all
Csarina: I hope that you get some answers from the consultant. EDIT: just read your post, that’s awful, at least they could have called you.
Tru: Hope you sort the washing machine
SunnyGirl: Hope the goggie recovers, it’s a lot to have spent in one go, mum took out pet insurance on our Lab as he’s a nightmare and always getting himself into some sort of situation! I also hope that everything is as easy as it can be with your mother-in-law.
NPM: what a nightmare about the OH, I remember when it snowed early last year I was temping, as I couldn’t get in, I didn’t get paid for 2 days. That’s a lot of money when you were willing to work…
JackieO: hope all the people you’re concerned for recover and get what they need J
NMLC: happy birthday for tomorrow!
DG: March? That’s quite a way away!
HH: hope you feel better soon
SD: aww! How cute
WMF: hope you get the news you want
Celyn90: those pics are lovely! Whereabouts are they taken?
Pipkin71: hope you get your prescription!
Candygirl: I really hope your friend is ok, that doesn’t sound good!
Flutterbyuk 25: glad you enjoyed your holiday, I could really do with one
LameWolf: hope you hear from Mr LW!
Right, after all that, I’m going to make a cuppa  Hope everyone else has had a fulfilling day and is cheery.
Caroline xx**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

afternoon all,
snow not to deep here hubby at work said it was snowing a blizzard so he'll take it easy coming home. Am off dosed with a cold at mo so have been off work since Monday have been wrapped up warm in several layers and putting heating on for 1hr blasts drinking hot drinks. Did freezer inventory today and have printed out our calendar for Jan and Feb so will be meal planning tonight
was rather amused when the elderly lady across the road came and knocked the door to see if i was ok as she hadnt seen me got to work for few days. her daughter was taking her to Mr T so she asked if i needed anything. I thanked her and told her i thought she was brave heading out she just laughed and said she's lived through worse. I normally check on her when her daughters away or give her a lift i see her walking round the corner to the local shops she only ever accepts on her way back when she has a few bits with her
tea tonight is courtesy of mil she sent potatoes and sausages home with hubby last night after he went to check on them0 -

evening!
not read the thread yet - not long got in from work, luckily my bil took me in his 4 x 4. DH only did a small milk round and not till this afternoon. Lots of people couldn't get to work but we coped.
DS1 got to work safely.
DH had some sad news, his childhood friend who I mentioned the other week died suddenly last night - he had lung cancer but was expected to live 6 to 12 months. At least he went quickly at home - only 47 and with children and grandchildren. DH is very upset, he was the best man at his friends wedding.
OS wise - not a lot:D was at work before 7am so not much has been done again. Tea for me is leftover risotto, DH having a beef pasty thing and mash. I've got 2 days off now to catch up.:j
I'm off to SW soon so will read when I get back.
Hope everyones well xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hugs Jayward. I totally understand how you are feeling. xxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
