I posted the other day - am in the middle of an (insane) baking project, making cakes for about 80 people for my wedding reception on Friday and have been trying some of the ideas you guys gave me. The main problem is that I've got a new oven, and it's a bit fierce. So far I've made a tea loaf and a boiled fruit…

I'm getting bored with eating the same foods on a weekly basis and wondered if people knew of places where you can get some weekly lists to make food interesting. At the moment I tend to do 3/4 days as meat and veg, 2 days pasta and a day of something else, but with food getting so expensive and boring of eating the same…

Wholewheat pasta / rice?
Does anyone know where i can buy cheap whole grain pasta and rice? It's always been slightly more expensive than the normal stuff, but now a 500g packet of normal pasta is about 70p, the wholegrain is over a pound. I'm buying the value pasta at the moment, but I'd prefer to buy the "brown" variety, for a vegetarian family,…

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I am leaving my job tomorrow and it is the tradition to take in cakes or other goodies when someone leaves. Any ideas for using up cooked bulghur wheat?
I cooked a load of bulghur on Saturday to make a salad, thinking it was like couscous. But it came out rather stodgy - sticks together in big lumps - so I didn't use it. It's still sitting in the pan (and seems to have expanded). Any ideas what I can do with it? Thanks for any suggestions.

Is there a thread for Slowcooker newbies?
I have just acquired a slow cooker - through Freecycle so it doesn't have a manual - and would like to know the basics: how long to cook things at what setting, how much liquid to include, any foods to avoid etc. Is there a thread here, or a website elsewhere, where I can find this info? Thanks to anyone who can help.
