Is there a thread for Slowcooker newbies?

I have just acquired a slow cooker - through Freecycle so it doesn't have a manual - and would like to know the basics: how long to cook things at what setting, how much liquid to include, any foods to avoid etc. Is there a thread here, or a website elsewhere, where I can find this info?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Morning Seaxwyn, have a look at the 3rd sticky......there is a link in the first post.
Folk seem to do things differently, some brown meat, other don't. Some use hot liquid, others don't.
Full pieces of meat/chickens can be done in slowcooker, depending upon the size.
Slowcookers are a real bonus, especially as you can switch it on and then leave it.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
