This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Morning.
Back to work day, so that means packed lunches and all that good stuff too. I think this is murder week.....
I have to give evidence in a trial on Tuesday and there was a murder on a local beach on Saturday night near here, so I will be required to do somthing with that no doubt...
Spent yesterday on the steam train in Bodmin. Quite an interesting day. We took a picnic and set up in one of the coaches eating scones and clotted cream while being pulled along by a steam loco. I can't believe we were waving to people out of the window while getting covered in ash. Well worth doing though even though it's anorak level stuff.
The seating was far more spacious that todays cramped bus like carriages.
BBQ in the evening when we got back, but the cold wind put the spoilers on that...
Well best get a shirt ironed. OH the duck came back, I thinkit must have a nest somewhere, but I have no idea where.....
Cheers

Morning N9eav and all to follow
sounds like you had a good day yesterday - thoroughly enjoyable I should think! I have a railway line at the end of my garden & every few months I spot a proper old fashioned train (with curtains at the windows!) going past - I think that runs days out along those lines; I must find out how to take a ride on it!
Youngest DD spent from 9-10 last night cleaning my kitchen till it's spotless!!! (she had been nagged for 2 days just to wash up a couple of baking trays she'd used & wouldn't...). I think it was the thought that the cat-lady is coming this morning to hopefully approve us to adopt, & she must have decided the place better look good!!!!!! lol....
Feel quite motivated to do some more clearing out/tidying up, especially as I have discovered Freecycle
May even get the BM on today for some herby granary bread & perhaps do some carrott & creme fraiche soup for lunch
Have a good day all, catch up a bit later.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Good morning N9EAV and all who follow! Just a quick one from me at the moment; I have to get DH up for work in a few minutes. Hopefully, the Mioliere household is back to normal this week! The housework has been somewhat neglected for a few days so I'll get stuck into that today but I'll also have more time on here.
Will call back later. (((Hugs))) to all who need them and have a great day.

Smoky - I've just read your post from last night; you are allowed to be ill and the children will be fine if you can't be your usual superhuman Mum for a few days. Just being there for them is the most important thing. You must take care of yourself and see your doctor especially if the coughing keeps you awake. I hope you start feeling better soon. Don't beat yourself up trying to get everything done.

Same here, just caught up on the last of yesterday's - Smoky you can't keep going at supermum rate when you're ill (I did that last summer with a cough/cold that I'd had for ages & ended up with pneumonia). So PLEASE give yourself some time out & just lay around on the sofa (or in the garden) for a few days. (((((hugs)))))
Ragz, sorry to hear about your sister's kittenThey must be very upset. We didn't see him/her at Raystede, although there was a beautiful fluffy silver grey tabby who had been left at their gates about 3 weeks ago
. We agonised between having her or the 2 we have gone for, she was very affectionate & absolutely gorgeous. Has your sis tried phoning Raystede or Cats Protection to see if anyone has found him?
Meant to say earlier (((((hugs))))) for all those needing them as well.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -

(((hugs))) all round, Smoky hope the virtual Hot Lemon helped
Packing/cleaning day today, plus the last of the shopping bits to bring home. Just going to tackle the ironing mountain as I cleared up everything as like to wash everything which has been worn before leaving (or take it back).
H-H - glad you managed to earn a few ££'s this weekend, very essential atm I think for you, you must be mega busy atm as your blog has been neglected, or just not as much to say without Katy?
Can you help me? I mistakenly picked up some Pasta Pine Nuts or Piñones in the supermarket yesterday thinking they were what DS had asked for. Not a major as only 0.68€ for 500g bag. but What do you do with them? They are not real pine nuts, but Piñones - Pasta alimenticia de s!molade trigo duro. Any more adventurous cooks out there able to throw some light on how he can use them? They seem to cook in 5 minutes.
Take care

Morning all! i don't pop in here very often so most of you won't know me very well but i do like to say hi occasionally!
Weather lovely down here in Kent, maybe the start of Summer??? Hope so!!
We are moving soon so had a boot fair yesterday. Got rid of loads of stuff we don't use and came away with £145!! Not bad for 6 hrs work. and got a brand new set of terracotta colour curtains for our new bedroom. Our window are 3m across in the new place and they'll fit just fine. They are hand made and fully lined and we got them for £12! A bargain since they cost nearly £600 originally! They are a fantastic moneysave!!
If i could bend anybody's ear re hand baked bread?? I've been doing a few loaves which have all been fine except they are still a bit on the stodgy side. They are cooked all the way through okay but i'd like a lighter loaf really. I wonder if i'm not letting the mixture rise enough or whether i'm not adding not enough yeast or not kneading enough? Does anyone else have this problem? Bread tastes fantastic though so i'm well pleased i'm doing it!!
Have a very good day all!!0
