as a newbie i have been trying very hard to save the pennies so far i have tried.

sp washing powder mixed with named brand and soda crystals
this is working great even after cutting the amount down

i have cut my shopping by £40 per week by using sp stuff(no one has even noticed )

i have nagged my dh to put up a washing line in my very small yard (he zig zagged it across the yard not very pretty but drying brilliantly)

managed to cut my insurances down by £200 per year by using the comparason site

started christmas shopping in the sales

i recon by the end of this year i will have saved roughly £4000

    i just love this site

thanks to everyone for such brill ideas :T :T :T :T

The same thing happened to me. What is also amazing is that as I got into the os, I saved more money the following years.

Hi again just remembering Pink - we had the thing where the other vet wouldn`t look at our cat, we registered with the second vet and had our cats records faxed to the new vet and they took over, we ended up staying with the new vet in the end as i was so angry with the old one.
It may be worth asking the new vet if this is possible.
Hope your little cat is better soon. ((((HUGS))))

We spoke to the other vets on saturday morning but they refused to see him as he's registered with the other practice

I wasnt happy with him going back there as we took him there last October for different reason, it was the vet (who has now left) that told us to put him on dried food,(apparently wet food has no nutritional value) this has now caused a blockage and we have to feed him wet food again, which has upset his stomach and i (excuse the language) now have a !!!!!! cat and kitchen floor to contend with.....I'm so angry with them. We explained all theabove yesterday when we collected him but it seemed to fall on deaf ears...sorry im ranting....

My old cat of 17 years had a problem.. he could not pee , it was like blood he was straining so bad, and we got some homeopathic, like a cystitus type, tablet and he has been okay ever since,, touchwood,, but I always watch both of them for signs,, and if it was too start again I would put them straight on the tablets,,

we did not take him to the vet as I dont think they look after them very well and as he was so old I did not want them to touch him as they always seem to do something which may cause something else,,,,, oops sorry I was ranting on there,, but I dont like vets or even catteries as he went with our other cat once to a cattery nearby and when we went to pick them up their basket was still in the cage and it was absolutely full of urine and they said they did not know how it had happened as there young daughter had been going in to play with them and as they did not like youngsters, as they had been told, i did not want them to be brushed or anything,,that cat has now passed away and I am sure it was because of that cattery,, oops I'm off again

    see ya
just been told by OH that it was drops in his water we used to give him for his bladder trouble

    Hello everyone,
Pink - hope the cat is ok. Is there any reason why he can't be registered at more than one vets? Our cats are registered at two. One supplies Frontline, and worming tablets quite cheaply, and the other is more expensive, but he's the only one I trust actually handling my pets.
Rhysdad - where in Kent are you? I'm in Dover, and the sun is conspicuous by it's absence!!

Didn't have a particularly good weekend myself, my partner and I are barely on speaking terms, and when he was talking to me, he used the "f" word on average 4 times per sentence!
Littl'un had a good time though, she went to a party on Saturday afternoon, which was meant to last 2 hours, but the parents had organised a mass water fight at the end, so she stayed for an extra hour and a half. AND they let her take her water gun home with her, which really made her day! Then yesterday, a friend popped round with a (very!) late birthday present for her, a box of decoratable plastic ponies. They're now all tucked up in the tea towel drawer, and I'm told that I can't move them, because they're sleeping. Hmmm.

    morning all,

Had a good tidy through, and got washing blowing on the line, I have another load about to finish, I have put dd's school shirts on a boil wash, ready for next term, they are all still in good condition, I just need to but her a new jumper and skirt, she is growing up now instead of out now iykwim, and I am needing to buy smaller skirts for her, I have to go to a specalist shop for them which charges twice the price  , but they do always have them in stock, so will leave it till the end of august.

Roast lamb for tea, which was in the freezer in gravy, will just heat it up and do some mash and veg.

We need to go to Bognor today to the mr T there, and see if we can get blow up matress for dd' s friend who is coming to stay for a week.

Hugs for smoky hope you feel better soon xx take care

Pink, I hope your kitty is ok xx

Better go washing has finished, will pop back later xx

Washing machine is finishing so I need to hang washing on the line, then have shampoo and shower and load towels into washing machine as it looks like a good drying day!

DH took all the boxes out of self storage so we have what looks like hundreds of boxes to sort through to see if stuff is still needed or wantd before we store them in the garage we have rented.

I ironed some shirts for DH this morning and he was quite grateful - I used to iron all his shirts and take hours over it - then get told that "The collar was not quite right etc. etc!" So I gradually stopped doing them and just drip drying them. Eventually he realised what a difference ironed shirts (even my standard) made and offered to learn to iron his own.

I pointed out that I would gladly iron stuff that was needed but got discouraged spending hours ironing stuff that then got crushed and creased in a wardrobe - or in my DDs case - tried on for 30 seconds, then thrown to the floor and back in the wash!!!!

Might do dough for home made rolls later and then take some bags of stuff to the charity shop.

Hugs to everybody and see you later. I want to get in the shower before DDs beat me to it!

    morning

well the house is a complete state - I just don't know what DH does when he's home over the weekend. Mess everywhere!!!!! I've been avoiding tidying so far this morning - but must get a move on. I have my sister arriving today.

Have a washing mountain to start shifting too, so looks like I'll be pretty busy :D

DH also announced that his mum and sister are coming for dinner on wednesday - we already have his friend (whose eife is away this week) and my sister that evening so now there will be six of us!!! Oh well...... So much for taking it easy :D

catch up with you all later on x
