Afternoon everyone :hello:
Just popping on quickly before I take Dtwin2 to the beach for a walk. Dtwin1 is at the office again with Daddy.
We've had a busy morning as on top of the usual Monday morning clean up I stripped the beds and made mushroom soup with reduced to 20p mushrooms and stock from last night's chicken. We also had our HG brocolli last night which was lovely, just wish I had room to grow more. OH is making a couple of new raised beds for me this week though so maybe next year.
The girls and OH went foraging yesterday and brought back a basket of blaeberies which I turned into muffins. The wild raspberry crop is amazing this year in the garden so I should have plenty for jam.
Had to go to the chemist, the pet shop, Mr T's and the recycling centre this morning and then treated ourselves to some seafood from the pier. Just having a quick cuppa before going out again. Tea is lasagne (bolognese sauce was done overnight in the SC so it just needs assembled and then some paperwork to do for OH tonight.
Please look after yourself smoky.
Sorry about your cat Pink.1970 but I think you're generalising a bit about the vets Kaat Lady.I've never had a bad experience with a vet and have had numerous cats over the years.
Take care all.

Rhysdad - I think you may not have left the dough to rise for long enough but this is my recipe for light soft bread which is a favourite in this house.
16ozs bread flour (I use 12 ozs white and 4 wholemeal)
10 fl ozs room temp water
3 tbsps sunflower oil
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp powdered milk
1.5 tsps easy-bake sachet yeast (I always use Allinson's)
Put it all in the BM, liquids first, and use the 'dough' setting; leave to rise in the tin (with a shower cap on it) until just above the top of the tin, place on a floured surface and shape into two rustic-shaped loaves, leave to rise for another couple of hours and then bake at GAs 5 (which I think is 375/190) for 25 - 30 mins. This produces really light bread. The recipe is one I found on here ages ago for soft rolls.

Hi Mioleire, just wondering if this recipe works for baking by hand and if so what would I do regarding the order to put the ingredients in? I've been using bread mix from lidl and it's rubbish, very dense hard bread which is tasty enough but OH wants soft bread for his packed lunch [strike](fussy git can make it his bloody self)[/strike]June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Afternoon all,
well the cat-lady approved us and so earlier I went to collect Lola & NinoThey are currently settling down in the kitchen and once they have discovered (and used) their litter trays I can let them come & investigate the rest of downstairs. Lola has already managed to get herself right up on top of the kitchen cupboards (not sure how!!) and then I had to get her down again. And then she turned on the hob - it being touch control. So I think I will have to get in the habit of keeping a chopping board or something over it, so she can't tread on the controls. Nino is a lot more nervous, so I have put the cat carrier under the kitchen table & he is sitting on top, looking around.
Kaatlady, what were the drops you used to put in the water for your cat's cystitis? These 2 are currently on Hills Prescription food as Nino had cystitis around 3 years ago (but nothing since apparently). So once they have settled I am going to ask a/my vet about changing them onto something different (and I would have thought they'd enjoy wet food a bit more too) but if there's a natural preventative addition I can give them that would be helpful I'd have thought.
Jayward, sorry about the job situation - I hope something comes up for you soon.
Just realised - I put granary dough in the BM this morning which finished around 1ish - but forgot it so it's still there....oops!!! I'll turn it into roll shapes & cook it & see what happens...Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Well, a boring day at work and can't wait until Thursday evening to be off on holiday. Not sure if seeing DGSs for their 'holiday' Friday or Saturday. Spoke to DD this morning and the youngest eating sand, stones, earth etc and doesn't respond to no! Good roughage I say and I am sure it will come out the other end - hopefully before he gets here! Just glad she is happy they plowter in the garden and get a bit on immunity with the dirt! Being too clean is not a good thing (as I keep reassuring myself!).
Love and hugs to all.

PS It has been fantastic weather here today - will need to water the pots tonight!0 -

Brilliant news!:T Animals make such a difference to life, I think.
I seem to have mislaid a couple of large chunks of today - I really must've knocked the stuffing out of myself over the weekend.Never mind, nothing I can do about it now.
Mr LW has just phoned to say he's on the way home, so I need to get myself in gear so that I'm not talking Martian to him when he gets here IYKWIM.
Luckily I made a quiche for yesterday's tea, and there's still half in the fridge, so I don't have to cook something from scratch today.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon All
Sammyjig - I was lucky and managed to get DD's school trousers from New Look - they are about the only ones which fit her and are £8 cheaper each than the school shop.
Our shopping trip was succesful but didnt get much else done today as we have had 2 vans break down and the phone calls didnt stop. Just breaking off now to cook dinner then will do some more or might motivate myself to do some ironing.0 -
