morning all
had to rush 3 yr old cat to vets has he hadnt been able to pee for 2 days i thought he'd done it elsewhere until i followed him to his tray and watched, poor thing was in pain, so OH walked to the vets with him, handle fell of plastic cat box so poor thing ended up in the floor a few yards down the street. Got to vets and found he had a blockage and was very very ill....we got phone call yesterday to fetch him home and a bill for £194  which was a bit of a shock...got him home and he's in a right mess he absolutly stinks of urine, they said they had cleaned him up but i'm not so sure...he's now on a special diet which unfortunately seems to have upset his stomach and the mess he's was this morning was awful, he's still dirty but was getting fed up of me trying to wash his bum. Have to take him back to vets tonight so i shall be complaining to them later.
Vets think they can get away with anything they could have at least cleaned him properly while he was out rather than leave him in that condition
I would definately complain,,, you paid enough. I dont think they look after them like they shouldmortgage free as of 06/02/2008#

as a newbie i have been trying very hard to save the pennies so far i have tried.
sp washing powder mixed with named brand and soda crystals
this is working great even after cutting the amount down
i have cut my shopping by £40 per week by using sp stuff(no one has even noticed )
i have nagged my dh to put up a washing line in my very small yard (he zig zagged it across the yard not very pretty but drying brilliantly)
managed to cut my insurances down by £200 per year by using the comparason site
started christmas shopping in the sales
i recon by the end of this year i will have saved roughly £4000
i just love this site
thanks to everyone for such brill ideas :T :T :T :T0 -

We spoke to the other vets on saturday morning but they refused to see him as he's registered with the other practice
I wasnt happy with him going back there as we took him there last October for different reason, it was the vet (who has now left) that told us to put him on dried food,(apparently wet food has no nutritional value) this has now caused a blockage and we have to feed him wet food again, which has upset his stomach and i (excuse the language) now have a !!!!!! cat and kitchen floor to contend with.....I'm so angry with them. We explained all theabove yesterday when we collected him but it seemed to fall on deaf ears...sorry im ranting....PinkPunkBird

Morning Everyone!
Did a carboot with my Mum yesterday and the two J's (DD and DS), whilst DH went to an airshow. We didn't make much, but we did get rid of enough stuff that it was easier to put it back in the car at the end!
I was pleased as although it was all my Mums stuff she gave me some money, which paid for my sisters birthday present which my Mum and I went halves on as it was a bottle of Chanel No.5 (she wants to live a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget!).
Pink.1970, our boy cat had the problem too. We had to stop feeding him dry food. I wrote to a certain firm whose food bags are orange (LOL) asking for a warning to be put on the bag and they wrote back and said they were sorry to hear about my cat but that their food hadn't caused it!
We fed him on special cat food for about three years after the incident, but then we just couldn't afford it anymore and had to risk "normal" wet food and everything is fine.
Feeling quite good today so intending to get everywhere tidy which shouldn't take very long (thank goodness for flylady lol) and then DD and I are going to glitter some pinecones for christmas gifts (Running late on Christmas prep this year) but I had better go now as I had a shower before I posted and I think I have now air dried enough!
Speak to you all later, hugs to everyone!

Good morning properly this time! DH has gone to work and I've been doing my domestic goddess bit in the kitchen: prepped for tonight's shepherd's pie in the Remoska, rice pudding in the Remoska as I type, ingredients ready for making cakes and bread dough rising.
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin (even though she's on holiday and hopefully enjoying herself), Beth and her DBs, Candygirl and her Dad, Anniestar and an extra (((hug))) for poor Pink's kittie who is really suffering poor thing.
The sun is beaming here today and I have two loads out on the line blowing nicely in the warm breeze. Not quite as summery as it should be but the way the year has gone so far I'm very grateful!
Rhysdad - I think you may not have left the dough to rise for long enough but this is my recipe for light soft bread which is a favourite in this house.
16ozs bread flour (I use 12 ozs white and 4 wholemeal)
10 fl ozs room temp water
3 tbsps sunflower oil
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp powdered milk
1.5 tsps easy-bake sachet yeast (I always use Allinson's)
Put it all in the BM, liquids first, and use the 'dough' setting; leave to rise in the tin (with a shower cap on it) until just above the top of the tin, place on a floured surface and shape into two rustic-shaped loaves, leave to rise for another couple of hours and then bake at GAs 5 (which I think is 375/190) for 25 - 30 mins. This produces really light bread. The recipe is one I found on here ages ago for soft rolls.
Well, I need to pop out and get some milk then come back and do some office work.
Oh, in case anyone suffers from dry hands like I do, I have been putting almond oil on them for the last few nights - just the tiniest amount because it goes a long way - and my hands are better than they've been for years. The almond oil is just an own-brand from the local chemist and cost 85p; it's been more effective than any of the more expensive stuff that is made specifically for dry hands. That, to me, is another MSE tip that will save me some money. I have been searching for something that actually works for years!
TWINK - when do the schools go back where you are? Ours don't even break up until Wednesday this week!
DONNY-GAL - I don't know what day you start your journey home but have a safe one and don't forget you'll need to adjust to the temperature over here!
Well, as you can see I'm back on top form 'mioliering' again! I'd better go and check on the dough.
Will pop back later.

Morning peeps
i`ve spent the last hour trying to post but it wouldn`t let me so i`d just about given up and now everything is fine
I really need to do a lot of maintainance on the pc but just don`t have the time at the moment.
Dh is away and will be back later tonight so i won`t be needing to walk the houndies 3 times a day and work as well as everything else too there don`t seem to be enough hours in the day at the moment.
I`ve not really caught up with the last day or so so i`ll hopefully do it later - hope you are all keeping well!
I`ve sorted the kitchen out this morning and the washing is blowing in the wind on the line, the bm and dw are now empty and the meatballs for tonights meal are thawing in the kitchen. I need to walk the monsters in about 15 mins so i`ll not linger on here
I went down the garden to water the plants in the gh this morning and am surprised to see the courgette seeds i`ve planted have sprouted already, i only planted them 3 days ago and i know it`s a bit late but thought i`d have a bash anyway. I`ll be out there again later picking lettuce to make some salad sandwiches to take to w*rk:D
My friend whose OH left her a few months ago is enjoying herself, she has a male friend who has been keeping her company for a while, both need a non serious relationship and don`t want any long term commitments so they seem to suit each other for the moment and it`s really good to see her smile again. she has been through so much lately and the worst is probably yet to come when they get round to selling the house etc.
Right offski to walk the monsters now, catch up with you guys later.
Have a sunny Monday everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
