Iced Biscuit Recipe, Please

I have been searching for an easy plain recipe for biscuits. I want to be able to roll out and ice. I have a chocolate recipe - don't know if that can be adapted. The roll out recipe I do have goes way to sticky and has to be cooled in the fridge for ages. Can anyone offer any suggestion please?
Oh by the way, nuts are to be avoided at all costs.
Thanks

I think my Gingerbread Men recipe could probably be adapted by just missing out the ginger & mixed spice
Or you could try this one:
- 4oz butter/marge
- 4oz caster sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 12oz plain flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp milk
- Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg gradually, beating well between each addition.
- Mix in the sieved flour and baking powder and add enough milk to form a dough.
- Roll out dough to biscuit thickness and cut into rounds.
- Place on greased/lined baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes 170C/Gas3 until pale golden brown.
- Decorate with icing (optional)

I made these yesterday (I scaled the recipe down by a third - my cousin gave me it and he cooks for schools!!!)
1.5kgs - plain flour
1kg - margarine
500g sugar
Rub the flour and margarine into fine breadcrumbs, stir in the sugar. Knead gently into a dough, roll and cut. Prick with a fork and bake for about 12-15 minutes until golden.0
