I've broken my sewing maching
I was given loads and loads of free fabric by a friend so I thought I would make some canvas bags for Xmas pressies... Anyway, I think I might have sewn with the foot up  or something has gone wrong because the needle is stuck down and the foot hardly moves up or down with its lever. Obviously it is no longer…

Another question. Does anyone use dairy free cheese and if so which one? Im trying to find one that I can use, particulaly for cheese sauces that would be suitable for a baby, so prefereably with a low amount of salt as well. There seem to be quite a few available on the internet but I would imagine that some are better…

Bread Making
Hi all just a quickie, can you make bread without using dried milk? The reason I ask is that my baby has a severe milk allergy and as a lot of bread has milk in it I thought I'd try making my own. I've borrowed my mums breadmaker to have a try but she lost the recipe book but did say I needed milk yeast and strong bread…

Sliced ham, chicken, quark and crabsticks
My OH and I were lucky enough to go away for a long weekend leaving the kids with a friend in our house. I had ordered a Tesco online shop to be delivered the night we went to leave food for while we were away. Pastry disaster....
I'm just trying to makes some minced beef, onion, carrot and potato pasties for OH's lunches but have had a bit of a disaster when it came to making the pastry. I used the food processor to rub in the butter and flour, then transferred it to a mixing bowl and stirred in water bit by bit. It was perfectly fine - except it…

I am a single vegetarian and currently spend approx £110 a month on my supermarket shopping. This is toast breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and an evening meal. Also includes the usual laundry things... Is this a realistic spend? If not, does anyone have any tips to help lower it?
