Olive oil dressings suggestions please

Hi, I have bought a condiment server one being an olive oil pourer....was wondering if there was anything I can add to it to make a nicer dressing but it also must be safe to use without having to put it in the fridge, for a month or so at least...
thanks in advance

  • Hi - Im not sure how long this keeps for but I should imagine a while I just make enough for 2 servings which is -

6 teaspoons olive oil (i use light non extra virgin)
2 teaspoons white wine vinegar (can use red i just prefer white)
    pinch salt
    pinch sugar
    pepper
one garlic clove (leave in for few hrs max - will taste bitter if leave any longer)

    Lovely salad dressing :j

  • My mums French Dressing:

    ¾ cup oil
¼ cup lemon juice or cider vinegar
1 teaspoon whole grain mustard or mustard powder
    2 teaspoons honey
a little vegetable bouillon powder and pepper to season
a small clove of crushed garlic

I'd be very surprised if this went off quickly... It just needs a good shake before using. Although I doubt it'd last long enough to go off. Very very tasty! :)
  • not sure of quantities as I just sort of glug it in but olive oil and balsamic with crushed garlic and season with salt is lovely and the only way I can get DH to eat salad. I add in some 0% Greek yoghurt for a creamier version but wouldn't keep out of the fridge of course then

Ive spent a couple of months with French families and they always make dressing the same way. Since then I've done the same. It is possible to put it in the bottom of a salad bowl and then put the lettuce on top and only mix it up just before serving. This is what they do in France. I do this, but I also make it in a jug,

1 teaspoon of proper Dijon mustard. 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar and 3 tablespoons of oil (not everyone likes olive oil). Mix it all up. delish!

Hi, my husband is greek-cypriot and their salad dressing is simply olive oil, lemon juice & salt. They are all put on the salad seprately and then the salad is tossed around...it is lovely to eat and simple to do (though we don't use much salt as the kids eat it)
