Chatsworth Country Fair Half Lamb £3.75kg
If anyone is thinking of going to the Chatsworth Country Fair (last day today) they are selling half a lamb for between £32/£38 depending on weight, which works out at £3.75 per kg. If you buy one they will keep it for you until 5pm so don't have to take it round with you. Entrance to the fair is £12.50 BUT well worth it.…

Daily Thread Sun 02 Sept 2007
Good morning all you slugabeds :) I've been hard at work for an hour now. Mostly non-OS in the strictest sense of the word, because I'm in the process of changing ISP. Since I host the image for the "Click me" buttons that are used in the indexes I'm having to work through them all and change the links. Eek! But I have…

Can you 'cook' with popcorn?
I have 2 bags left out of 4, of microwavable sweet popcorn (by Butterkist - it's lovely!!) but if I was to make up a batch, could I cook with it (say put it in a flapjack type thing or a cake?) I know you can make savoury popcorn, but this is pre-sweetened so desserts/sweet snacks only :D

Has anyone got a good recipe for an easy to make, long, cold and tasty soft drink:D I've tried lots of shop stuff and can't find one I like, they all seem to be full of chemicals and added stuff. Usually a cold cider does the trick but then I start another and another and up goes the old BP again:eek:

cheap food..grains!
Hi Guys, I have just discovered some interesting foodstuffs and wanted to share with you all. I got them from the local health food shop and have been experimenting. The bags of grains only cost 1 or 2 quid a bag and you only need a bit as they swell up like rice. The ones I've tried so far are quinoa and amaranth and I…

New month = new start
Whenever September rolls round, it always seems to set me on the path of new starts. One area I want to tackle is the daily meal planning. Looking over my previous plans, it seems we are eating the same foods on a monthly basis, so I want to try something new. Problem is, DD1 wont eat potatoes of any kind so the meal has…

How much do your kids do around the house?
There is an article in the Guardian http://lifeandhealth.guardian.co.uk/family/story/0,,2158343,00.html today about different families' attitudes to kids' responsibilities around the house. I like the OS way of doing things, and I hope to bring my children up to be willing to get things done rather than use ready meals…

Making Cider
We are having a bumper crop of apples from the 3 apple trees we have in the garden. I usually make loads of apple sauce but OH has insisted that this year he is going to make cider  Does anyone know where I can buy large air-tight containers to store the apple juice for it to ferment in? I really don't want this…
