we have a bit of a problem, with our garden as it is at the moment, the only place our dog has to go for a wee is on the patio (apart from of course when we go for walks) but the problem is, when the sun dries it out, it really starts to smell strong.
We tried to wash it away with the hose pipe, but it didnt work.
Today I tried some zoflora disinfectant and that didnt work either.
We do give our dog a desert spoon full of tomato ketchup as this stops it killing the grass, but its the smell - means we dont want bbqs, makes you loose I your apetite (which is saying alot in my house!!)
thanks in advance

Tomato Ketchup!!!:undecided
You want to give Jayes Fluid a try. I think that's haw you spell it.
Its good for getting rid of moss on concrete it may try on dog wee.
I'll have to try the tomato ketchup thing!0 -
thanks. i can vouch for the tomato ketchup thing, we have had no problems with dead grass since.
We give one desert spoon mixed with a glass of water and pour it over her biscuits in the morning.
Loads of people use it, we heard about it in the new scientist orginally, but since then loads of people have mentioned using it.
I will give the jeyes fluid a go, didn't think of that .. just hope it doesnt kill too many plants!!embarrassed to say I used to work for barclays..sorry0 -
Alot of commercial cleaners have ammonia in, as does urine, so it compounds the smell. One of the only things that doesn't is non-bio washing powder/liquid. Using a watered down solution of that might help."all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0

This is a recipe I got from www.stinkypets.com to remove dog urine from carpets or paving etc.
200ml hydrogen peroxide ( can buy really cheaply from boots or chemist can order for you.
2tsp bicarb of soda
a couple of drops of washing up liquid
mix all above stirring really gently, not shaking as the mixture is a bit volatile.
Then put in a spray bottle. Can be kept to use in the future apparently, but when I tried it was leaking out of the top of the bottle, as a gas was being formed in the bottle.
When you spray it on, it may bring out the smell of ammonnia in the urine even worse as you are doing it, but then vanishes as it dries.
