Daily Thread Sun 02 Sept 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sun 2nd Sept. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread
after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning all you slugabeds :)

I've been hard at work for an hour now. Mostly non-OS in the strictest sense of the word, because I'm in the process of changing ISP. Since I host the image for the "Click me" buttons that are used in the indexes I'm having to work through them all and change the links. Eek!

But I have managed to get a new batch of the Pan Amasado bread dough started - so it hasn't been ALL bad :)

Oh, and Sally's had her breakfast.

  • ACk, that sounds like work! Well, DH and I have agreed that we drive each other crazy, and we'll try not to. He has ageed that the procrastinating is going to have to stop, tho.

Looks like a sunny day today, not sure what's going on here yet, he's asleep!

Morning squeaky and all who follow. I have been up a while checking the footy results from yesterday. A couple of Cornish teams won in the FA cup preliminary round..... LOOOOOOONG way to go yet.

I seem to sleep better if it's dark outside so no more 5am wake up calls. 6 is normal though.

I have to work today... Big memorial service for the victims of the hotel fire in Newquay a few weeks ago.. I had a role to play and so I am working later today.

So it will be church in the morning as usual and then church in the evening.

Kids go back to college tomorrow, so some sorting to do there today and lots of other bits and pieces to do today as well...

    Cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!
  • Morning, squeaky and odds'n'sods, and to all those who are yet to wake up;)

Looks nice and bright here this morning, hopefully will stay dry, I seem to have an overflowing laundry bin AGAIN. I already have a heap of ironing waiting for me, will have to get to that later on.

Had a lovely day yesterday, completely non-MSE :o , we all drove down to London to meet up with my two sisters, it was my younger sister's birthday so we met up at a posh restaurant for lunch to celebrate. Elder sister treated us, so a 'cheap' meal for us but even she did a double take when she saw the bill ('twas the champagne that did it, I think) so we may offer to pay half when we see her next. She had arranged for our puddings to arrive complete with 'Happy Birthday' and our names piped round the edge in chocolate and a candle stuck in the ice cream, the waitresses sang Happy Birthday to us which annoyed the snotty couple on the table behind us.

All in all a lovely day and I got yet more birthday pressies so we both felt that we had been thoroughly spoilt.

Today it's back to eath with a thump, lots of cleaning, cooking, ironing etc awaits as well as sewing up a dress I need for a concert next Saturday.

Csarina, that machine looks awesome! It would scare the life out of me, but I'm sure you'll put it to good use. i have an old but much loved machine that thankfully only needs me to push a button to sew ;)

Belated happy anniversary wishes to Mr and Mrs Aussie, it's our 28th too at the end of this month, can't believe where the time has gone.

    Have a great day, everyone

  • N9eav I hope the service goes well. I used to live in a parish that was the focus of the memorial services after a bombing (still is) and it was moving, intimidating (media, families of those who died, everyone wanting it to be as good as it could) but it also made me proud that the church and its people did so well under the pressure, I'm sure that your role will be appreciated.

I don't usually join in these threads but thought that it would be nice to have a chat and find out what y'all keep yacking about... :rotfl:

I'm going to church for Evensong later, but making pancakes for breakfast and using the rest of the batter to make toad-in-the-hole later. Apart from that, I shall probably lie down a bit - my parents bought me a huge lunch yesterday, and I still haven't quite recovered!

    Morning all.

MONEY BUNNY - Welcome to you - you'll like it here.

N9EAV - There's no way of telling from your posts what you did but, if you've been brave, then, well done. The service will be very moving, I'm sure, but it will be comforting to know you were able to make a difference to a terrible situation.

ODDSNSODS - Why am I fighting the urge to say 'lovely cats, shame about the DH'. I'm sorrry, I couldn't resist it! As regards him sorting out his procrastination habit, let's hope he doesn't put that off until tomorrow. I have resorted to calling my DH in for his dinner and presenting him with the cordless drill, rawl plugs and screws on a plate, on more than one occasion. He is terrible for putting off things he's promised to do and doing things that haven't been asked for! And I am so fulsome in my praise and gratitude for a job well done when he has done something I've asked for (you know, like Supernanny says, 'plenty of praise) that you'd think he'd get on with things straightaway.

Anyway, did anyone find it b****y freezing in the night? I couldn't get warm in bed for ages and it kept me awake half the night. I suppose it is September but I was rather hoping for a late flush of summer seeing as how we've all been deprived of it so far.

Well, plan today is to finally make Aunty Beryl's chutney, go through my Christmas stash and make lists, have a quick flick through with a damp cloth and the vacuum cleaner, maybe do a bit of ironing, walk up the shops for the paper, carry on reading Martin's Thrifty Ways book (which is brilliant), do some knitting and mending, entertain DS1, DIL and the grandchildren this afternoon, phone my mum and do some filing. It would be nice to fit in a nap, too!

Well, the kettle is calling. Will call in later. Oh (((hugs))) to JACKIEO - read your posts late last night. Glad recovery is going well. (((hugs))) also to SMOKEY and MR SMOKY.

Confused by your sig odds-n-sods - are you Frogga too?

    Morning all,

Well we got a good nights sleep finally, until 20 yr old cat came and yelled in my face and forcefully tapped my cheek at 6am. PsychoKitty was then awake and bouncing, literally bouncing, around so gave up and fed them and got coffee. :) 2 cups later caffeine slowly working on me. OH snoring away. 20 yr old cat happily asleep and PsychoKitty in really soppy mood purring on my lap having spent 10 mins head rubbing my chin. Ahhh cute.

Like the photos odds-n-sods. Must work out how to put some on here for anyone interested in PK.

Didn't paint yesterday (surprise surprise) Did drag OH off for a walk in the hills thinking as we're going away could be time to get fit first. Of course, OH has aggravated a knee injury so that plan didn't work well :( Did a Mr T - spent too much of course, need a meal plan! Other than that - we didn't do much at all! You should have seen us last night - like a couple of old codgers, me doing a jigsaw and OH playing computer games. Wow - what a Saturday night!

Todays' plan - paint  And major housekeeping. :o Off to read yesterdays thread - have a good one!
