Casrina Your new machine sounds fab. Mind you it would take much more than that to make me able to sew.....At school in hte first year we had to make an apron before we could have cookery lessons(I did that as I wanted to cook) then we had to make a blouse(you should ahve seen the fabric I chose BRIGHT NEON pink with enormous flowers:eek:  . So pinned the pattern on it and perhaps did something else can't remember. Second year tacked bits of it.Third year....Teacher getting pretty hacked off with me!!MADE me come in during lunch time to finish my masterpiece! I did try honest...........bell goes,I stand up, blouse sewed on to my school s:eek:
skirt!!!!!!!!! Wasn't made to do it again!!!

    Afternoon all
so she's coming by bus & wants me to pick her & 3 friends up, so they all know where she is staying!
I'm now checking out the times of the trains/buses from here to Staines as I don't want to be lumbered with trying to get them back late tonight.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
    Hugs Hester

There would be a rail replacement bus from staines though - you'll have to let her know that you're her landlady not her mummy

Finished the sock  have to start again as the ribbing is too tight and won't go over the foot - might try to unravel a bit and start the ribbing again but I'm not up to that at the moment - double   so that's back to 48 socks to go - triple

No news on when exoh and the girls are back - hope they won't want feeding as I,ve saved loads of money by staying indoors all weekend and eating scraps from the fridge and freezer
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    I've been Money Tipped!
    :hello: Hello!

(((big hugs))) to anniestar hope things sort out ok for you hun!

Penpin - glad you had a lovely holiday, I think a thread on organic food on a budget would be a great idea. We are doing our best to do the same but would be lovely so share ideas!

Happy Birthday to Kyles ds :bdaycake: have a lovely day!

Belated birthday wishes to anyone I may have missed, tiredness being my only excuse!

Loving the cat piccies today, they are sooo beautiful! Our cat is relenting and will now spend some time in the same room as the puppy but at a safe distance! we are spoiling her at the moment with sainsburys version of sheba meals and she is lapping them up. Hopefully things will settle down soon.

We went to a wedding reception for a brief time last night and I selected only vegetarian food and lots of salad but i still gained 1 lb when I weighed myself!! so have decided to weigh in once a week only on a Friday. We are using an ol style diet in that we are opting for smaller portions and no junkfood rather than buying in diet food which is so pricey! and I am not happy about using sweeteners as I am not convinced they are good for me especially with cfs. We still need to watch the pennies and so leftovers will now have to be used in a healthy way i.e. hm soups rather than fry ups. Today we have roast pork (had to use it) but will have steamed veg, just a couple of small potatoes and only use a smaller amount of the meat and save some for a nasi goreng tomorrow, melon for pudding. Salad tonight.

Frozen down some more runner beans from the garden and this time puppy tangled her extendable lead around the rose bushes while I picked the beans! Hopefully the rest of the fencing will be done next week so she can finally be let off the lead.

Have a lovely day and (((hugs))) to those that could use one

    Catz x

    Jan grocery challenge £35.77/£120
  • Frogga, thing is tho, that my DH will go and get it if I say' I'd love some....'
  • Anniestar: you made me laugh so much!!!!!!!!!!!!laughing-smiley-014.giflaughing-smiley-014.gifI have been there too, sewing a badge onto somethng for one of my kids, got up and the shirt and badge firmly sewed to my trousers!!!!!!!!!! My GM was a tailoress and as a child I had to sit at her side when she was sewing, amazing woman could cut a suit out by laying the fabric on the floor and just chalking it from the measurements she had taken, she taught me to hand sew. If I did it wrong or didn't do it properly I was made to undo it and do it again until it was right....I was taught to sew with a needle called a 'between' I still cannot sew with a big needle.

We went to the lottie, picked 2 1/2lbs of beans, a lettuce, some beetroot and a friendly fellow lottie holder gave us a bag full of ripe tommys........I also brough some spuds back from the sack in the shed.

Supper tonight..........roast pork chop,(fat cut off) steamed spuds, sweetcorn and beans, might have a small glass of white wine (well you have to have a treat even if you are loosing weight) and fresh fruit for afters..............lunch was 2 crisp bread, a slice of cheese tomato's and nectarine and yogurt for afters.

Next time we go to the library I am going to look and see if I can find an over 50's exercise class...........we are not digging at the lottie just now so not getting the same exercise. I do not mind walking but its so dire round where we live and I refuse to pay £1 an hour to park in our local beauty spot. Now I have bought my new machine its going to be take the bus or don't go!!!!!

Not sure if I will sleep tonight, too excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! if it doesn't come tomorrow I think I will burst, haven't been this excited since our first trip to the US in 1992!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, now, control yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh is very pragmatic........if he lays back much further he will fall over, boy is he going to get a shock when his dinner is not ready because 'shush I am sewing' try looking in the freezer laughing-smiley-014.giflaughing-smiley-014.giflaughing-smiley-014.gif
September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

    Tesco £57.13
    Petrol £10.00
  • Afternoon all,

Snowy your cats are gorgeously snuggable - if that makes any sense!
Hester I think a stern talking-to should sort your new lodger out. Failing that, conveniently *forget* to make her first meal or keep putting her off saying "I'll make it in 10 - 15 - 20 -25 mins". Maybe then she will understand her responsibility to others.
stef console yourself with the fact that my knitting is even worse. I can cast on but can't cast off. So, if I knit anything the poor recipient has to drag two knitting needles around. :rotfl:
anniestar ((((hugs)))) hope things aren't too bad.

Just came back from the supermarket with DD (11). We stocked up on lots of fresh fruit and veg, wholemeal bread, bagels, fruit juice - all for the new beginning. :D

As we were walking around I was telling her all about frogga's challenge. DD thought it was a great idea and wanted me to tell everyone that she supports all of us and will be giving me special support by joining in with the exercise and healthier eating. :T :T :T

While we were out DS has washed all the dishes and tidied round a bit - all done with a smile. :A Hopefully he is tidying his room now (DD did hers before we went out). He is making dinner today too. What a star.

Hope Sunday is being good to you all. xx

Have got a lamb dinner on the go for tea (half price legs of lamb at tescos at min), and i am having one last chill out afternoon before school ect starts on tuesday.
Sat here with glass of wine and getting some quality pc time whilst dd is napping and dh and 3 boys watching footy!!

Have big plans for the next few weeks, need to alter my routine to fit around all the kids now being at school, and myself and dh have sat and looked through our budget and have decided that we will go abroad again in Aug 2009 so i need to open a new savings account to put hoilday money into.
Quick question when will i be able to book a summer 2009 hoilday????
I can only book as far as oct 08 at the minute, and really need to know when aug 09 will go on sale as need to go in and get a free child place to keep costs down.
