I wash my whites and colours separeately, but when tumbling, is it safe to dry them together?
If so, I could change my 2 half-loads for 1 full one

If the coloured items are colour-fast, there is no harm that I can see in tumble drying them together. After all, they will have been rinsed in clear water before going into the dryer.0

I personally wouldn't chance this, I tried it once and my whites went dingy grey. The clothes are wet, the colours will run into the whites, then you'll have to rewash them. Its false economy.0

I have used a "Colour catcher" sheet. They are like tissues and you put one in wih the load and then you can safely wash whites and colours together. When the sheet comes out it is a dilute black. You get them in Tesco.0

Once coloured items have been washed half a dozen times, all the excess dye has come out anyway, so there is no need to even wash them separately.

I disagree with that and feel it is worth separating a dark wash from whites otherwise the whites often look grey and dingy. I do put a mix of them in the TD with no adverse effects. I like to think I`m a good ` scrubber` !0 -
Lol, that probably explains a lot

I mean the laundry theory, not you being a good scrubber

I must confess I just wash most things in together - new red/darks get washed in with sheets or similar so any runs don't matter. I've not had many disasters

I separate mine into whites, medium and darks. I hate dingy washing and this way keeps the whites white and the light colours clear. I don't mix them in the TD much either unless its an emergency.ie GS needs his football shirt now.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

I mix older well washed colours with whites/lights but a new highly dyed item is best put in with the dark/colours. It states on the label to wash separately. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T
