chocolate cake with mashed potato in
Yeah, I know gross, but my Mum tells me my Nan Nan used to make it during the war and it made a really squidy cake and helped it keep. Anyone hear of this before, any recipes?? I was reminded of this because of that 'Cook yourself thin' show where one of the ladies made a choc cake with beetroot in it (think I'll give it a…

Does anyone use ALDI soap powder?
I was wondering if anyone has tried Aldi's non-bio soap powder? At the moment I use a smallish amount of Persil non-bio liquid along with soda crystals in the drawer and I sometimes use soap nuts for dark clothes. The Aldi stuff is so much cheaper and I've never been a soap powder expert/snob, as long as it does the job.

My lovely children have got (purple) plastercine type gloopy stuff on my brushed fabric (beige) suite covers. Its not actually plastercine but the gloopy sort of stuff they buy from novelty shops to remodel and squeeze into shapes. There is now a 3inch blob well and truly squashed into the fabric on my cushion (funny how…

Glut of swedes - help !
I have 3 swedes (from the veg box, one last week 2 this week) and I am the only person who will eat them in this house of 5 people  Need something a bit more imaginative than mashing them and freezing them in individual portions! I already have a very swede laden veggie curry in the freezer for when mum visits.

Do I need a steam mop?
The 'Pick of the Day' on the Ideal World shopping channel is a steam mop which has a strong brush attachment for cleaning patios. I am very tempted, as a big area of my back garden is paved and I would like to be able to clean the pavers without chemicals or a power hose, which sprays all the mess up onto the borders and…
