Anyone know a date and fig cake recipe please?
My mum is hankering to make a date and fig cake like she used to, but has lost the recipe. I've looked in the recipe collection with no joy and wondered if anyone here knows of any please? I tried searching on the internet but that wasn't much help either as the returns were either date or figs and not together.

Recipe help please
I've just been in my local cafe for a cup of tea (my occasionaly treat) and there was a gorgeous looking rustic sausage bake on the lunch menu. I know the owner fairly well and asked if I could have his recipe for the kids but it's "top secret" (I guess he has to make a living!). Anyway, I wondered if anyone here could…

Re-heating food
We are on a tight budget and recently I made a huge pot of Chilli and also made far too much rice. Once cold I put both the rice and Chilli in separate sealed containers and put them in the fridge. Is rice OK to be re-heated? I've re-heated Chilli before but not sure about the rice. Many thanks

Favourite Meal to Cook?
Was just wondered what everyone's favourite meal was to cook from scratch? I guess I'm possibly looking for ideas, I also wondered whether I was the only person that cooked things that I wasn't that keen on just because I really enjoyed the cooking process? To start us off, I think I would have to say roast chicken with…

But I forsee that by the time I have 3 teenagers in the house that's not going to wash  What do other family cooks do ? Do you a) do a calculation -…

My house is SUCH a mess
My house just seems such a mess at the moment I can’t seem to get anywhere with it. It really is getting me down and quite upset – I’m quite stressed about other things, work and family and its seriously getting me down to the point where I am so tired and can’t seem to do anything in the evenings (I am out of the house at…

steamed pudding recipes?
I am now the proud owner of my first pudding basin and I'd love to make some old fashioned steamed puddings. They seem that they would be cheap and filling, and as dd is very 'traditional' in her approach to food, I think they'd go down well. Does anyone have any favourite recipes to share? I think jam, syrup and some…

Hello all I am giving a surprise birthday tea for my mum on Saturday for about 24 people (ages from 2 to 75  ). This is taking place in my home, which is a comfortable size for 4 of us, but is going to need much creative thought on where to sit people and how they can eat comfortably. Basically, it will mean food that…

I did a search, but could only find a thread about where to buy it. Thanks in advance…
