Best money-saving appliance?
Hi all. I'm fairly new but have gained such inspiration from reading so many money-saving success stories. I just wish I'd found MSE before I'd got myself into such a black hole of debt:eek: Here's my 'problem' although it is a nice one to have for a change:rotfl: . I have £55 in Comet 'vouchers' on those card thingies…

:hello: Goooooood Morning Fellow OS’ers  No, I haven’t slept and I’m not going to lie about that! I *should* have slept by now, but I haven’t. Nor am I in the right frame of mind to sleep – some people just need a donkey to kick and tonight/this morning, I feel like that donkey! Will I let it get me down? Like…

OS Discussion Thread
As periodically occurs in the OS daily thread, some members have taken comments personally and felt most unhappy about the BG's announcement that pix predominant posts and one liner posts are not appropriate in the OS daily thread. Yet others have taken this far more personally and feel affronted that their own particular…

Fastest Food Challenge
Sometimes I get home and I don't have the energy to spend a while cooking. This week for example, I cannot seem to get motivated. I therefore think I need some assistance. For example, tonight I cooked pizza and chips in 15 minutes. Anyone got any healthy foods they can whip up in less than 30 minutes? I need something to…

Cleaning Carpets
I'm looking for some advice about steam cleaning my carpets. Rather than pay someone to clean them I've spotted a Vax Steam Cleaner in Argos for £69.99. Does anyone have any experience of using something like this or of cleaning their own carpets. If it does the job properly I'm thinking it might be a good investment and…

Freezing Ready Made Pie
Quick question for you lovely peeps ... Tonight for tea I have had approx 1/3 of a chilled plate chicken & leek pie from Aldi with some tinned sweetcorn. As an aside the pie was fantastic - thoroughly recommended for £1.99 and I really don't think I'd have been able to make much cheaper .... though I expect to be corrected…

SC Pork Joint - Not nice smell?
Hello helpful OSers. This mornign I decided to be brave enough to use my slow cooker, and stuck in a 800g joint of pork. My son has come home from school, and asked what the weird smell is. I told him its pork for tea. Oh, I thought the baby had poo'd, he said. (I dont think it smells that bad). Have stuck some sage in…

Why do my fairy cakes stick to the paper cases?
 I've been using paper cases that I bought from Lakeland and a standard sponge mix for the cakes but the cakes just don't want to leave the wrappers (the paper cases). Should I just ditch the cases or is it the mix that's wrong? It's so frustrating at the moment most of the cake is getting left on the case.

Naughty sewing machine............
Last time I used my sewing machine I broke the needle. When I replaced it and tried to sew, it kept hitting the bobbin case. My DH had a look (he's as handy as I know as much about sewing!) and told me it was fixed. I know nothing about sewing, other than how to thread machine and sew a straight line. Forgotten about last…
