Options
omg......my neighbour has just been nosing through her net curtains....at me...... i have just washed out some freezer bags that i had pork chops in.....and hung them on the line to dry....

this is the first time i have tried this.... first of all to try and be more green...recycling etc..... plus to try and save some pennies.... as its suprising how many bags you can use and throw away without realising....

i bet you she is thinking..... that we are sooo skint that we cant afford new bags......lol...

i know now its hip and trendy to be thrifty.....ooops i mean
'enviromentally friendy':D .....

but do you ..or have you ever had any funny looks or comments..... about your thrifty ways.......

by the way our neighbour is a prize curtain twitcher......

Tell her it is for an art project and that you are going to be the next Tracy Emin or whatever her name is!;)

Then suggest a treatment to help her get her net curtains white!!!!:rotfl:

Buy some condoms, wash them out and hang them up. That'll give her something to twitch at. :p

I get odd looks and comments from most of my friends regarding my "thrifty" ways, but some of my "quirks" are slowly spreading around them. I take my inspiration from a very thrifty Aunt who re-used tin foil like you wouldnt believe, and put all her soap ends into a mold that eventually made anothe bar of soap. She retired at 55 after working for a high street store and lives in a very nice house in Spain now!
My best friend is in her 50's, and even I raise my eyebrows at her as she lovingly unwraps pressies then irons the paper to reuse!! We have had the same gift bag going between us for about the last 5 years for our birthdays!!

.............and I had to hide behind my PC at work when a (very well off) colleague made a comment just after christmas about all th "saddo's" who would be now cutting their cards up to make gift tags. Guess what I had been doing the night before!!! I'm not sad - I'm saving the planet, and a few bob whilst I'm at it!!!

I like being OS - we've recently got a supersize bed and instead of buying a new duvet/covers, I've just bought some popper tape and sewed it down the edge of two single ones and have now got a supersize duvet - plus I can wash them singularly in my own washer and not have to take them to the launderette. I also stitched two single (matching) covers together to make a supersize one.

I also like to re-make some of my clothes into new(ish) ones. I like to be a bit different and not always a clone of everyone else:rolleyes:

I have to laugh though when I've had a big spring clean and I've been using up old teatowels as rags - then I wash them all and have a line full of rags blowing in the wind:D

I think your neighbour has heard about your famous "No shopping at the supermarket for a month" thread and is now trying to glean some VERY good thrifty hints.

I use re-sealable poly bags and always wash and re-use (like Amy Tightwad Gazette).

Be proud to be different and a trend-setter.

Everyone thinks I am weird anyway, but it does feel darn good when people come over and compliment the girls on a homemade item of clothing.. oh that's gorgeous where did you get it.. and I nonchalantly shrug and say oh, I made it last night because I was bored!! lol

I love being 'different' at least I am remembered by everyone I meet.. the children were complaining I didn't have any money in my purse to buy sausage rolls on the way home from school.. until I got home and they all had some homemade-this-morning banana bread!! :D

I love it.. my siggystrip says it all really.. £4000 paid off my debts since October.. can't be all bad!

My hubby says I'd reuse toilet paper if I could.. I did offer to dry it after use but he was having none of it lol.. I did consider using fleece and washing it.. but thought the childrne would probably flush it just the same.
