OMG Stainless Steel pan burned...
I have let my pasta burn in the SS pan it was cooking in. Should I use steelwool?…

Cattern Cakes and Lace
I wonder if any of you OSers know of the above mentioned book? About 20 years ago I was given it and it was wonderful. It was a recipe book based upon traditions which go back hundreds of years. It was in calender order, so there were things like Stir up Sunday recipes, Easter, Harvest, Maytime, Whitsuntide, Christmas and…

No greaseproof paper - will parkin be OK?
I was going to make the Parkin that Ruby Pudding kindly put up the recipe for... I want to make it now, now, now but I don't have any greaseproof paper  In the recipe it says to grease the tin then line with greaseproof paper. Would it work if I just grease the tin with butter and leave out the GP? Thanks in advance.

Indian cookbook recommendation
Anyone know a really good Indian/Pakistani cookbook ? Preferably along the lines of cheap and cheerful, quick and easy rather than elaborate and expensive. It seems to me that the basic Indian diet is both cheap and healthy what with all the pulses and veg. I'd like to branch out a bit from chickpea and veg curry, dhal and…

I was just watching QVC and Marguerite Pattern was on as they were selling all three of her Wartime recipe books for £12.45 for the set. I picked up some nectarines yesterday and some low fat creme fraiche, with the vague idea in mind that it would be nice to poach the nectarines and serve with the creme fraice.
