saw these in tesco last week.......... like a mini pineapple looking thing but red and soft when sqeezed.. has anyone ever tried or seen them ? I would have bought one but at £2.29 each i thought they were a tad expenisive for my purse.

  • I bought one out of curiosity once but have to say that it was pretty unimpressive - a bit tasteless and had loads of black seeds.

had never seen one before.... got chatting to a bloke who'd never seen one either .very curious but not enough to spend 2 quid on a measly bit of fruit lol.... from your description i won't be bothering either, would rather have bananas, can't be doing with fruit you have to "deal" with before eating lol

We saw them in Tesco the other night and wondered what they were like. Instead we bought a Guava for 22p (reduced) which niether of us liked as it tasted too perfumed for us

I won a holiday in Barcelona early in the year, and there were loads in the fruit markets there. Mind you, they were 1 Euro for a half that came in clingfilm with a little spoon to eat the middle with, and even that was expensive compared to the price per kilo.
I thought that they were a pleasant flavour and very juicy and refreshing, but the main thing about them is the appearance so I wouldn't buy them at that price.

I want to try one of these but like you say, the price is pretty ridiculous. They are meant to be good for arthritis though which is why I want to try one as I have problems with the fingers on my right hand. I'll wait till I see them on offer I think.

I paid about 75p for mine last year - special offer. They were OK, but wouldn't rush out and buy another one - although they look fabulous :)

I saw them in Tesco's too - certainly wouldn't pay that much for one.

THey are delicious in Asia, but as with many fruits flown thousands of miles, the ones you get here are rather iffy. THey look fabulous in a fruit bowl though. THey taste like a kiwi crossed with a pear, IMHO.

I bought one recently from a local greengrocers for 60p - I didn't relly like it, too bland for me, though my OH said it got sweeter and juinier towards the centre and was quite yum :) He even took photos of it because it looked so odd :p
  • I buy them strictly for dietry needs. It has been proved that the Dragonfruit builds Immune systems and even linked with helping cancer patients. It is also good for the digestive system.

I have SLE and was advised by my rhumy to try them. My friend makes ice-cream and smoothies for me with them:D ...he gets them imported as he eats alot of them himself. Apparently they are quite addictive. They are pretty bland but when taken like this they tase quite nice. The texture is between kiwi fruit and watermelon.
