It seemed such a good idea at the time...
 Hi Everyone. It seemed such a good idea at the time to try an OS way of making my own 'insect screen' so that I could have the windows open as wide as I liked without the insect/wasp stings which I'm allergic to. I'd looked around and there weren't any I could find - some in Kleenezzee but they cost so much…

Using Old Pillows In New Ways?
Hi All I did a search for this but couldnt really find any answers: What do you do with old pillows? When I say old I'm not meaning years old - they are only a few months old, hollowfibre ones but I like to change them fairly frequently - I would say its all to do with dust mites but tbh its because I like really firm…

I have recently been made redundant and my husband is now the only one bringing in an income. So I am hoping to become an OS Moneysaver. There are two adults and two children at home, one still in nappies. It would be lovely to hear from anyone that has any tips for me. Where I should start. I am sure there are lots and…

Beware of Orangeina!
I was at a friend's house today. She was really upset because her son had tipped a glass of orangina on her carpet. You would not believe the stain it had left and it will not shift with anything! It is a huge dark brown stain. We don't have it in our house, but I had no idea of the damage it could do if spilt on a carpet.

How to get paint off a stainless steel sink?

Lemons are good
Lemons are particularly good for cleaning stainless steel sinks. Once you have squeezed out the juice for your recipe, keep the skins and use to rub all around the taps and over the sink surface. Then just rinse with water and you have a nice shiny sink. It works on stainless steel cooker tops too. Also good to rub on your…
