Quinces
OH's gran has given me some quinces from her ornamental quince shrub - they are small, about the size of a walnut - all the recipes i've seen say quinces are larger than apples. Are the little ones still edible or are they just for looks?

Lost a freezer's worth of food.
Just been away for a few days. My friend from down the road has very kindly been feeding my cat while I've been away. :j When I left home I put the dishwasher on, so that there were no dirty dishes waiting for me when I came home, but it still hadn't finished the cycle by the time I left the house, so I text my friend and…

dauphinouse without milk?
I'm doing dauphinoise potatoes tonight, but although I have a small tub of double cream, I don't have any milk to add to it. Could I substitute the milk with some stock? I'm guessing it might work, but would it?? I'm going to layer the potatoes with cheese, so I thought that might help as well.
