White Vinegar and Stardrops!

Am relatively new to this website and am loving it!!

I've always been a careful shopper and have read, in this forum and on the Internet, about the virtues of white vinegar and (here) Stardrops!

Does anyone know where I can buy larger quantities of white distilled vinegar, other than the 500ml bottles from Sainsburys?

Also, apparently Sainsburys sells Stardrops - never heard of it, but willing to give it a go! Which aisle am I likely to find this and is it available nationwide?

Thanks.

If you have an oriental supermarket there you can sometimes buy big bottles of white vinegar. Other than that you will only be able to buy a small bottle from a regular supermarket. You can buy Stardrops in most supermarkets and it's on the aisle where the cleaning stuff is. If not you can buy it at Savers chemists.

Not sure about the larger sizes of vinegar (apart from malt vinrgar, which could be used!!!) but i buy my stardrops in Wilkinsons. I asked in Tescos, but they told both me (Plymouth) and my mum (Barnstaple) that they had stopped selling it!!!!

do you have a quality save or home bargains shop? They sell stardrops and it is 69p for a bottle and sooooo versatile. I used it for mopping floor n cleaning bathroom but acc to the bottle you can also wash up in it and do hand washing. God I love it.

White vinegar ASDA 47p but only 500ml.

I found my first bottle of Stardrops in Asda a couple of weeks ago. It was 58p though it might have gone up now, as so many things seem to have done lately!

Amazing stuff that you can use to clean just about anything! It's concentrated and you only need a tablespoonful per 4.5 litres of hot water - though I've made up some solution with cold water and put in empty spray bottles. I'm very impressed with it, the tiles and kitchen floor have never looked so clean! You can use it neat on dirty or greasy marks too, and it's good for stains on carpet.

edited to add: Welcome to OS, Natty!
  • Malt vinegar is 17p a bottle in Sainsburys or Lidl, I can't remember which off hand, but I wouldn't use it to rid my smelly son's white school shirts of that teenager smell!!!

I'll look around Win Yip for big bottles of white distilled and definately check out the Stardrops stuff.

    Thanks to all

Thanks Ivy, think I might have to investigate Asda and see if they have Stardrops. I am using Mr Muscle multipurpose (the purple squirty thingy) and white vinegar (not together I hasten to add..lol)

And thank you for the welcome :)
