Not quite, but it does sound a good one to try!! Thankyou for that!! :D

It was a very sweet chutney, didn't really have much spice to it at all from what I remember.

It was the only one I really liked that was made as it had no sultana's in it. I don't like them in chutneys.

The last time she made it has got to of been at least 18 yrs ago, so that is why she cannot remember what went in it. It was passed onto her by one of my dad's old bosses and she was making it back in the 40's or 50's. It was a well old recipie, lol.

This one sounds a lot less spicey ... and NO sultanas :-)

2lb runner beans or kidney beans sliced
    2lb onions peeled and sliced
    1 lb demerara sugar
    1 pint of vinegar
    1 dstsp turmeric
    1 dstsp dry mustard
    1 tbsp cornflour
    1 dstsp salt
    water
when you have sliced the beans and peeled & sliced the onions, put them into a saucepan & just cover them with cold water, now add the salt, and cook until tender, about 10mins,strain off the water & and put the cooked vegetables back into the saucepan, adding half the vinegar and all the surgar and cook for a further 10 mins, mix the cornflour, mustard and turmeric together with the remaining vinegar and add to the contents of the saucepan, boil up again for a few moments until all is thick and well mixed, pack into jars, but don't cover untill cold.
this chutney is ready to eat within a week
