Mad cow Disease
How many of you are still not eating beef since the scare or beef related products. I ask because I fancied putting an oxo cube into my minced beef, looked in cupboard and found some with the use by date May 05, if they're going on the turn I'm going to be in double jeopardy:D

Whats Good Value At Lidls?
Hi I normally shop from Asda with the occasional "posh shop" from Ocado/Waitrose. I have never shopped at Lidls and have heard pretty good things from people here on this forum. What is so good about it and what do they sell and what is the quality like? What do you buy and recomend from Lidls and can you put down cost too…

Tonights dinner..
...is two blue freezer bags full of brown stuff that Mrs Pal found in the bottom of the freezer. No idea whether each bag has the same thing in it. Goat curry bolognese? Roast tomato and rhubarb crumble? Chilli con chicken giblets? Yum! Rice or pasta with that?

Harvesting home grown veg
I had a bag full of potatoes and some onions getting old and sprouting in the vegetable rack, so I decided to plant them in the garden and see what happened... Roll forward four weeks and my onions are growing slowly but surely for now, and the potatoes are slowly taking over the garden (the world in next on their agenda).…

Car boot fairs (Near Manchester, or anywhere for that matter)
Inspired by the car boot fair thread I was wondering if anyone knew of any near to manchester? Preferably ones with no traders, i can't stand boot fairs that are just your normal market in a field. Does anyone know of a decent site that lists car boot fairs? The only one i've ever found you had to pay for to see the list.

Using up old soap
There was a post on here a while ago about using ends of old bars of soap to make... can't remember - either liquid soap or laudry gloop? Could anyone give me the instructions to make either? (Have to confess I'm not actually sure what laundry gloop is...) Thanks in advance!

SPOTTED! Was it you???
The family going through the ASDA checkout in front of me on Friday evening were definately Old Style fans. I'm a bit of a missy for eyballing other people's shopping, and theirs put me to shame. Their overflowing trolley included: * about 8 bags of value pasta * 3 of those massive (5 litre?) bottles of orange squash that…

What meals are "worth" making yourself?
I just wanted to know which meals you all think are worth (financially) making yourself. Obviously, the best part of HM cooking is knowing what went into your food, but are there any particular meals that are/are not much more economical to make yourself? For example, for HM beans on toast, boiling haricot beans and taking…

Why Didn't Someone Warn Me?
To buy my organic milk from Tesco and not the local organic farm shop? I toddled up there complete with my broken wing mirror (that took some doing trying to park) and got my organic free range eggs. Spotted the organic milk there and succumbed! Nearly fainted when she told me it was £2 for 2 litres but thought well, it's…

Removing Chewing Gum
Anyone know how to get rid of some disgusting gum - which some idiot threw in the street and I walked it into the car and it stuck to the carpet. It's now well ingrained into the pile. I've got as much off as I can, but there's still enought there to really p*** me off! [threadbanner]box[/threadbanner]
