Car boot fairs (Near Manchester, or anywhere for that matter)

Inspired by the car boot fair thread I was wondering if anyone knew of any near to manchester? Preferably ones with no traders, i can't stand boot fairs that are just your normal market in a field.
Does anyone know of a decent site that lists car boot fairs? The only one i've ever found you had to pay for to see the list.

Hiya,
I googled on "car boot sale" + manchester and got This Site for a Sunday market and Car Boot which might help you.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. The best one near us (the largest in East Anglia, I'll have you know!) is full of market traders, but also just as packed with private car booters. You never know, maybe worth a look at ones with traders. The last one that I went to that didn't have any market traders was pretty poor to be honest.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

The best "non-trader-dominated" one's in our area are run by the local Secondary Schools ... two have them on a monthly basis, but on different days so they don't clash.
They list in the local newspapers and the freebie newspapers.
I would also suggest you ask at your local library or check their noticeboards - schools try to promote them as much as possible because the pitch money helps their funds, so they also try and promote them as freely as possible. Do you know people/family/friends/colleagues who have teens? Ask them if their kids schools hold regular boot fairs.
Bank Holidays there are a couple of HUGE one's a few miles down the road from us ... so, hopefully, your area may do similar .. in which case, they'll be advertised in your local papers/radio.
If all else fails - don't despair - keep checking charity shops.
Good luck.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

don't know which side of Manchester you are on, but if you travel a while (45 min approx) there are two good car boot sales every week at Gisburn and Clitheroe (about 5 mins away from each other).
There are a few traders but loads of genuine car booters, its often been used on these TV programmes where they go car booting.
We are off selling there next weekend I think :wave:0 -
It's probably too far from Manchester but there is a very large bootsale every Sunday at Chirk, between Wrexham and Shrewsbury -it's signposted0

I've been to quiet a few although the best one in Manchester has to be the Smithfield Market over 150 stalls (I think!), they sell allsorts from food, clothing toys etc.
OR try the link below it lists all markets within Manchester

Hi tr3mor,
There's a great carboot sale near us and it is at Junction 11 M6 (Cannock) it is sign posted from the island only 2 mins from junction. It's really huge with hundreds of geniune stalls people come from miles around to buy and sell.
I know that this is a bit far from you but we were at Manchester airport the other week and it only too about 3/4 of an hour to get home. I think when you go to different areas car booting you get a huge variety of wares for sale and prices. There's one on there and another one on a different field (on the same road) on the afternoon, so you can make a day of it if you like.
You may even be able to buy some things and take them back to manchester and do a carboot of your own and make a profit on the things that you bought down here
we go at around 8 on the sunday morning, and it's already busy so you need to be up early.
I hope you go i think it's well worth the journey.0
