Places to buy "stuff" on line..
Right, here goes. First time I've spent time reading this board - find it fasinating! Is there any merit of having an online shopping menu...you know places to buy organic, specialist, cheap? food on-line? You never know his Nibbs may find a way to generate cash for the site if we all click through it? You all "sound" like…

Organic?
Following on from my first visit to our local butcher and being surprised at the difference in the quality of the meat. I am now wondering if we should be changing to using organic fruit and veg aswell. I'm not sure if there is anywhere local to us that sells it and am wondering if there's any point if it's still from…

First visit to butcher
Since coming on here a few months ago I've been meaning to go to our local butchers but kept forgetting (no excuse as there is one at the bottom of the road!). But on saturday I decided to go. Ho hum, single again! Anyway - I need refreshing on ways to keep the costs down, now I am single again. Multi-Cooker - any good?
I've been sent a clothing catalogue and the introductory offer seems too good to be true - all I have to do is order anything from it and they will give me a free "Multi-cooker", normally worth £30 (they say). For £2.99 they will include a griddle plate. It looks a bit like a small crockpot (only 1.3L) but cooks a bit…

Cookery Book Shuffle
I love trying out new recipes and when I'm doing my meal plan I always sit down with my cookery books in hand and plan new meals, when it comes to cooking them I can never seem to find the same recipe again. So what's the best? Writing down name of recipe, cookery book, and page number in my meal plan or typing them up and…

Great Tips... one liners
I like all the indexes to 'tie-in' all the various pieces of useful information on these pages, it's like an encylcopedia! I have one minor suggestion, could we have a page (not indexed) of just tips - you know, like the one line things that you get in magazines such as 'old face cloths make really good oven cloths', these…

Quickies in the recipe sticky?
 Dear Squeaky or Galtizz I recently suggested (click here) that we could perhaps have a *quick recipe* thread in the old style recipe index, eg recipes that definitely take less than 15 or 20 mins to prepare as sometimes I really don't feel like cooking for very long, often I just need to be inspired (like the…

General Pizza tips & Quick Questions
I have been using up various bits and pieces in my cupboard in a storecupboard challenge kind of a way (enforced through overspending at the begining of the month!) One thing I used was a packet mix to make pizza dough/base. The packet originally cost me about 80p for 2 servings. You add water, mix, kneed and then let rise…

Moneysaving Stir Fry ingredients
Am staying with my mum this week. Since my brother went to uni last year she has stopped receiving tax credits, child benefit AND my dad's maintenance payment, which has halved her income and meant she's had to go back to her old moneysaving ways. Anyway, we had a yummy stir-fry this evening, and as a costcutting…

Tea stains on cream leather
While giving my suite a polish over I was horrified to find tea stains, its looks like they splashed on to the bit below the cushions when some tea got knocked over and we were so busy clearing the mess up on the floor we didn't realise it had also hit the sofa, any way at all of cleaning it - I tried all the leather…

Bicarbinate of Soda
Hi everyone, I have just bought from Sainsbury some Bicarbinate of Soda. I am going to use it in my son's nappy bin to soak up the smell. Should I be mixing it with water before I add it to my son's nappy bin or do I just sprinkle the powder at the bottom of the bin? How long does it last for? What else can I use…
