Bicarbinate of Soda

Hi everyone,
I have just bought from Sainsbury some Bicarbinate of Soda. I am going to use it in my son's nappy bin to soak up the smell.
Should I be mixing it with water before I add it to my son's nappy bin or do I just sprinkle the powder at the bottom of the bin? How long does it last for?
What else can I use Bicarbinate of Soda for?
Also where can I buy it at its lowest price? :T

It's good for cleaning out the fridge as it doesn't leave an odour & kills germs;) .
Also good mixed with lemon juice & poured down smelly/slightly blocked drains:D .
And if you dab your toothpasted toothbrush in it before brushing it helps keep your teeth white & sparkly & breath fresh a-la-Arm & Hammer style for about a tenth of the price (taste takes a bit of getting used to though:p )
