Hi all, Just want to get some advise on this issue... Last year we bought a ford fiesta titanium from one of UK's biggest chained car dealer.. We have only found earlier this year when we took the car to Costco to get some new tyres as one has worn out.. the costco garage worker point out that we had the wrong size tyre…

New car issue
Hi to all, I just wanted a few thoughts on this. I bought a new pre-reg Mitsubishi outlander about a month ago from a dealer, I noticed a few faults including climate control issues and rad fans kicking in when they shouldn't.. As the dealers the other side of the county I got my local guy who owes me a favour just to plug…

URGENT - Have I just been ripped off?
Hi guys, I've just sold a vehicle to someone who purchased it on ebay. He came down and picked it up earlier today. When he turned up, I apologised to him that I'd just seen some damage that I wasn't aware of previously. He decided to back out of the purchase, so we cancelled the ebay transaction. However he then changed…

Lease car return - better sorting things yourself
Got a copy of the BVRLA guidelines. Alloy wheels - being done. Couple of scuffs that are below size. Worrying one is bonnet chips - says these are disallowed. Obviously, dont want to have to shell out when they say I've got to pay for a bonnet respray? Worth trying to do yourself with touch up pen or is it too obvious?

Car expected to have a cat N write off
Hi, I was in a minor accident the other day due to a woman stopping on a main road (it's a very confusing road system where everyone who is in the right needs to move to the left and vice versa) and I ended up rear-ending her at about 10mph. I went to the garage yesterday and they said that whilst there's nothing major,…

Speed limiters mandatory in new cars from 2022
The EU have agreed that all new vehicles sold from 2022 will have a 'black box' and speed limiters. Sounds like a bad idea to me - drivers will get used to the car deciding the maximum speed and then carry on at that speed in heavy rain/fog. But at least it'll mean people might actually do 20mph in a 20 zone.

SORN vehicles and MOT
Hi, I've got a vehicle, that I'm looking to sell, that I've declared SORN for the past few months, as I've just not had the time to prepare it for sale. Its MOT was due in February, but does declaring a vehicle SORN put that MOT due date back for the same duration as the vehicle is SORN for? I.e. MOT was originally due in…

Help....strange issue with car finance on HPI
I'm hoping someone can advise. They say every day's a school day....I was certainly schooled today. I am selling my Renault car on Autotrader. After numerous traders calling, a private buyer contacted me and asked all the right questions. We agreed a price in principle and he was coming this week to test drive etc. The car…

Council contractors want OH's truck moved but he is in USA
In our neighbourhood of Victorian houses everyone parks on the street, and has residents permits to do so. That includes OH and me. OH has what would be called a truck in the US, a large van with windows. I drive a small runabout, an automatic. Our road is very narrow and it is only possible to park on one side, our side.…

Gap insurance - new lease car - do I need it?
Obviously, I'll be moving my insurance over BUT what happens if it gets wrecked/stolen a week later. I've heard there may be an issue with insurer not paying out full amount. Is this the case? Seems a bit off to insure something and then be out of pocket? Surely insurance is there to restore you to the previous position?

A cheap to run car?
Just got my payout for car insurance after my car being stolen  and now thinking about buying a new one, I've been looking around on here but thought i'd make my own thread. I can use the payout to buy but I don't have much incomings at the moment and looking for something cheap to run, okay to insure, and hopefully…

Ford cambelt
Recently got a used Focus, 45k and 2013 plate, petrol. How soon should I think about a cambelt + water pump change? I believe the handbook says 100k/8 years, I am nearer the age mark than the miles. Does the car have a good rep on these parts or should I get changed soon? If it has any bearing, I am driving high mileage…

right ok, in case any of you are/aren't following the saga, I bought a car a few weeks ago. Last week the seller contacts me to advise he has just received notification about the car being recalled. I get straight on google & it states this particular model was recalled due to an issue with the turbo causing fires. I wait…

DVLA Medical Decision
How long does it take for DVLA to make a decision on medical related applications? My gf has a degenerative eye condition which requires her to reapply for her driving licence every year. We received the letter from DVLA in January and my gf had the eye test the same week. We’re now in late March and there is less than 2…

Recall question
Hi there., A friend of mine had to scrap a 4 year old car 2 weeks ago due to a blown engine issue. Today she received a recall letter from Vauxhall for a generic engine fault. The car has since been scrapped but does she have any recourse with the manufacturer due to the fact the fault was Vauxhalls? Thanks roy
