Ford cambelt

Recently got a used Focus, 45k and 2013 plate, petrol.

How soon should I think about a cambelt + water pump change?

I believe the handbook says 100k/8 years, I am nearer the age mark than the miles.

Does the car have a good rep on these parts or should I get changed soon? If it has any bearing, I am driving high mileage around 300 a week...

Thanks

I'd suggest getting it done close to 100k or 8 years.

I would change as per Ford's recommendation, so 100,000 miles or 8 years in this case - whichever you reach first.

Paid £350 for my Mondeo for cambelt, tensioner, water pump and auxiliary drive belt.

  • Hi I would look to change the belt after 7 years or at about 80,000 miles. Your a lot more cautious after having one go (under recommended manufactures milage and age), believe me.

Booked it in with a local mechanic for £300 including the pump. Thanks all.

    That's a good price.
