URGENT - Have I just been ripped off?

Hi guys,
I've just sold a vehicle to someone who purchased it on ebay. He came down and picked it up earlier today. When he turned up, I apologised to him that I'd just seen some damage that I wasn't aware of previously. He decided to back out of the purchase, so we cancelled the ebay transaction.
However he then changed his mind and said that rather than have a wasted journey, he'd still like to purchase the vehicle.
So we went ahead. We first tried to complete the sale via DVLA's website. However their services don't work after 7pm. So we completed the paper version of the V5 logbook.
In haste, however, we only completed the SECTION 10 - New Keeper's Details, which he took with him and we forgot to complete his info in SECTION 6 - NEW KEEPER. which is the copy I have kept.
He's now not answering his phone.... I don't know what to do?

How did he pay?0

He'll need to send it off to tax, so you should be alright on that basis.0

Ripped off how?
1) you might end up receiving endless speeding tickets
2) you might be out of pocket - if his cheque bounces......0 -
Thanks so much for your quick replies.
He paid cash.
I've managed to get the address that's on ebay, but from what I remember he wrote a different address on the new keepers slip.
I'm worried what if I put the address on ebay, but he then tells them of the address he wrote on the slip?0 -
Nothing will happen. Nobody sees the address he has put on the new keeper slip, most people never bother filling it in.
Send him a message asking for his address. If he doesn't give one by the weekend then just notify change of keeper using the one you found. After that it isn't your problem. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If he paid cash you can't have been ripped off. Send him a text reminding him to sort out the registration.
You might want to inform the DVLA if he doesn't respond. Try ringing them.0 -
Thanks guys.
Sorry I didn't mean to be so melodramatic. I'm just imagined that he might not register it into his name and do some form of scam, such as parking tickets or going through cameras. I just don't want to be responsible for anything he does.. That's all.0 -
Don't panic.
I sold a car a few years back and some hoodies came round and bought it for cash. Just outside the online register time.
The next day I registered the change online and it turned out to be a fake address. Misses got a redlight and speeding fine within a few days.
Police contacted us and I just showed the advert and the new owner slip I'd been given. I had acted in good faith and done everything I could. Pretty much this must happen quite often.0 -
Thanks consumers_revenge.
Have I given the correct slip to him? I gave him section 10 and kept all the rest.0 -
do you have front page of v5c ? or yellow bit section 90
