Possible DMF failure
I worry to much when it comes to my car. Its a Mk2 1.8 TDCi and I got told by someone I trust 110% when it comes to cars its a noisy engine and it rocks when idle. It rocks but it doesn't move my key ring on my car but I can feel it. But it has done this since I owned it from Oct 2016. Its done 91k and mainly used on…

Tax on Lease Car Mileage Allowance
Hello All, Just a quick question here, and this may not be the right section of the forum. Previously I've been getting a lease car allowance from my employer. My car finally broke down and became uneconomical to repair and due to a lack of available money I decided to go for a lease car which I've now got. My confusion is…

Aygo MMT 'advisories'
Hi, when I had my 2010 Aygo service and MOT a couple of weeks ago by Toyota everything was fine and it passed, but I was advised it would be a good idea to have the gearbox recalibrated, air con serviced, brake fluid change and transmission oil service. They quoted me a total of £210 plus VAT. I really can't afford this at…

Bmw x3
Looking to buy an X3 of up to 5 years old. Do approx 10k p.a. including c4k motorway/european driving. Anyone have any comments on running costs, pitfalls, recommendations to purchase used etc? Local BMW dealers rarely get them in and the price is always very high compared to availability on places like Auto-trader. Thanks.

PCP up this year - what to do next
I have a Nissan Note 64 plate on PCP. I purchased the car brand new from the dealership in September 2014. The PCP finishes this year with the option to buy out the car at just over £5000. From the looks of things, I'm going to have a few hundred equity in the car if that. Not sure whether that's the car or the near 50,000…

Contesting end of lease charges
I had a lease car collected at the beginning of January as part of the voluntary termination process. The collection agent came and inspected the car, which at the time was 40 months old and had 36k miles on the clock. He stated that the only damage he would have to list on his worksheet was for corrosion to three of the…

Heated Seats
My wife is looking to sell her Mini One Convertible and get a used car for <£6k. She really benefits from the heated seats in the Mini as she has recurring coccyx pain. Heated seats generally seem to be the hallmark of a luxury car (i.e. way out of our budget) so any ideas on a usedcar in our price-range that has them?…

Insurance Disclosure of Spent Convictions
It is that time of year again when I need to renew my insurance. I had a conviction (MS90 Failure to Identify the Driver) which was 6 points, from 2013. The conviction is now spent and my licence is showing 0 points however it is still listed on my licence, apparently until later in 2017. When I apply for insurance the…

Scammed by used car dealership?
I bought a 2006 Ford Focus last August with 45k, 10 service stamps and a clean MOT (no advisories). I presented it for MOT and service this week and the MOT work has just cost me £1000 at my regular independent garage (service was cancelled as that is every penny I have at the moment). A huge amount of work has been…

Advice needed. Damage to vehicle.
Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help me. I am a self employed parcel delivery driver. On leaving a customers property my van was damaged by the gate when the wind blew it into my path. When I entered the property the gates were wide open. I did not open them myself. The gates were not secured and after checking nothing in…

cylinder not firing, reasons?
In short, had an issue with the engine light flashing then staying on permanently while away from home in my ford fiesta two weeks ago. Recovery vehicle arrived courtesy of insurers and told me that the third cylinder wasn't firing correctly and I should therefore get a new coil pack asap. Did so when I arrived home and…

I disagree with car insurance decision
I was driving straight on through green lights. The car waiting in the opposite direction decided to turn right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes, swerving to my right to try and avoid him. Unfortunately I hit his passenger side at the rear. My insurance is now saying as it was his rear that I hit it means he was…
