Possible DMF failure

I worry to much when it comes to my car. Its a Mk2 1.8 TDCi and I got told by someone I trust 110% when it comes to cars its a noisy engine and it rocks when idle. It rocks but it doesn't move my key ring on my car but I can feel it. But it has done this since I owned it from Oct 2016. Its done 91k and mainly used on motorway as I do 50 miles a day for work.
Now my concern here is a possible DMF failure.

Yesterday it acted like it wanted to stall. It did once. It may of been me. Drove it this morning and it seemed fine. No stall issues. Pulls well and doesn't seem to be slipping. I would ask my friend but he works shifts and he has a little one on the way. I am 100% sure he will help me fix it but would rather ask you amazing people first before I go bothering him .

This video is just on my drive and idle. I have pushed the clutch pedal down during the video and gave it a little rev but apart from that it was left to its own devices.
From the video is there anything I should be concerned about?

Many thanks

    What year of Focus?

    Does it have a DMF?

With a DMF failing usually the vibration / noise will change (or usually go away) when you put your foot on the clutch

2006. It does have a DMF.

See when I put my foot on the clutch it seems the vibration is not as bad. But I don't know if this is me.
  • I had a 2006 Focus (Ghia) and Ford told me the injectors and AGR valve needed sorting. I took it to my local garage as I couldn't afford the couple of grand Ford wanted. The local ended up replacing the glow plugs, cost £90.
Also have a look at "Eric the Car Guy" on youtube. American but some of his videos are good for the UK as well.

If you're feeling excessive vibration you should get it checked out by a mechanic anyway.

A failing DMF usually produces more noise than vibration. You will here a metallic DING DING DING with your clutch out that should stop when you fully engage the clutch.

    Listen for significant noise difference.

Think of a DMF as a very heavy rotating metal disc that is connected to a central spline by hard rubber that stops it from moving in any direction. As the rubber fails the large heavy metal disc has more freedom to move and starts to wobble. When the rubber disintegrates over time the metal disc has the ability to hit other metal components. Hence a repetitive noise / DING

The DMF will not cause it to stall unless the flywheel is damaging the flywheel sensor. If that was the case it may stall at anytime. Sitting there idling or driving along at any speed.

Engine rocks when idle, its poorly and needs proper diagnosis.
