Car insurance goes up annually??

Your bonus doesn't increase beyond a certain point (4 or 5 years?), so if there's no other change you'd expect an increase through inflation.

Its standard. Happens to everyone. They send you your renewal with a increase. They go on the basis that its people won't read it/be bothered to even ring them up to get cheaper. Id guess at least 33% don't check and just let it run. Easy money for insurers.0

This.
My partner just had her renewal through on Monday at £360 (and with only 3 days to go which was a little naughty!) but same company was quoting £205 on comparison sites. they wouldn't match the online quote on the phone, so cancelled and immediately took them up again online.
It's a stupid game, but one that we can't refuse to play because of the compulsory nature of the product.0 -

I received my renewal , and by checking out other companies and letting my ins
Surance company know about cheaper quotes, they reduced mine by £86.07, beating any other quote I hade found. This was Hastings. Direct, very helpful operative on the phone0 -
My insurance premium was £216 last year, £188 this year for the same car and the same cover. Full no claims bonus on both. So premiums don't always go up. This is with Saga. I did have a lower quote (from Lancaster), but kept with Saga because I have always found them efficient.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

My wife had similar increase quote from Saga last week, went online got some quotes, better by some £50, rang Saga to see if they could come anywhere near, not the cheapest quote but the most reasonably well known company quoting (certainly not the one mentioned in the post above yours, the very last company i'd use), they beat the quote comfortably.
Saga have been good to deal with and helped out over a car change when we wanted to keep two cars insured for one month, very helpful, so she is reluctant to change providers if at all possible.0 -
I was with Hastings Direct until just 4 days ago for a number of years and had to do the same dance every year as their online comparison prices were always lower than my quote. Never had a problem in getting them to 'match' their own price. The last quote was £248 but with the £60 MSE cashback deal Direct Line were only costing me effectively £117. Hasting told me they could reduce it to £185, they couldn't tell me why they were happy to take another £63 if I'd just let it auto-renew. This will apply to all companies.Linda_Moody wrote: »I received my renewal , and by checking out other companies and letting my ins

Had to do this with Virgin but they at least said their system wouldn't let them do it and said it was fine to take out the new policy onlineSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

They'll keep upping your renewal premium until you notice and question it.
To make it less obvious, they release stories to the media/press every year so so, about rising insurance premiums and all the reasons for it, so that when you look at your premium your more likely to just accept it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
