:( 100% my fault, was reversing out of street and was concentrating so much on the kids playing at the other side of the road that I managed to bump a parked car... left a note to let them know. Anyways the guy came over and the thick plasticy panel ( but not bumper)at front of car and grill have been pushed back, no…

Car insurance
Just a query, as there is a few people living at home I was looking to have a lot of named drivers on the policy for the 2nd car as it can be used by anyone for a quick drive here or there by anyone. Direct line wouldn't let me add the wee sister as there was already 5 named. Any companies that allow 6 or more? Dad said…

Buying a car with a higher seating position
Title really explains what I'm after! I hired a new Qashqai a few months ago and liked the way it drove and the seating position. I've also heard good things about the Skoda Yeti, and believe there's a new model out next year? Has anyone got other recommendations? I'm looking at spending no more than £20k Thanks.

Do these costs look reasonable?
Afternoon All I'm buying a (new to me) car and have a specific model in mind that has good reviews and a reputation of being a fairly reliable car even with a high mileage. I've worked out average monthly costs and was hoping someone could say whether they look realistic or if I'm delusional :o 1. Insurance will be paid…

2003 Clio 1.2 16v clutch/gearbox loud tapping/rattling
Hi guys, I've got a Clio 1.2 16v which I bought 3 weeks ago and it has developed a fault. When the clutch is not pressed and just idling there is a loud tapping/rattling noise coming from the gearbox area. The noise goes away when you press the clutch down I've uploaded a video onto youtube so you can see what I mean. The…

I purchase an 3 month old ex demo vauxhall cascade soft top 4 weeks ago. At time of purchase i specifically clarified that the vehicle had integrated bluetooth capability. I was assured it had, this was further evidenced by the sales person via the standard equipment details on the manufactures website. I collected the car…

topping up engine oil.... why??
Hi I have a Hyundai i10, 12 plate, approx. 11k miles from new and have owned from new. The sump is small - holding 3.5 litres of oil, I regularly check my tyre pressures and all fluid levels I have rarely topped up the oil maybe 250ml here or there. Just wondering are there certain conditions which would cause the car to…

Where do I stand with recent new car purchase?
Hi all, On the 10th of August I bought a 58 plate Jeep from a garage 35 mile away from me. The car had seemed fine on the test drive and all the finance checks etc came back fine. When driving it home I struggled to get the car up to 70mph and it didn't seem to accelerate past 60mph. As this was my first Jeep I presumed it…

Used car recommendations...family car under 5k
Hi there, As the post would suggest, me and hubby are thinking of getting rid of my rust bucket fiesta (which I actually love dearly) as we have a baby coming and are looking for something that we can fit everything in to, and something a bit safer, as my car is very old and rusty and although it may pass its MOT, it won't…

Selling V5 without car
We often hear tales of woe when people buy a car without a V5. But here's an opportunity to do the opposite: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-ESCORT-MEXICO-Mk1-YELLOW-V5-/290966568520?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item43bef57e48 Other bits and bobs included too - if this isn't a DIY car ringing kit I don't know what it is.

MOT query
Just had a thought - would a car fail its MOT if it doesn't have exactly the right size tires on? My car's "proper" tyres are 175/60 (and I have a set of these which are currently on the car) However, when I was looking for winter tyres I couldn't get any this size, and was told that 165/65 were an equivalent tyre so have…

AA breakdown renewal
I recently received my AA renewal for £205 - that included Roadside breakdown, Relay & Home start. I thought that was way too steep so I checked online & as a new member I would only pay £120. I phoned them & without any haggling they offered me it for £120 as I was a "valued customer" for 29 years. I should have beaten…

How to beat price depreciation when choosing a new car
The Dacia Sandero Access - is it really the UK's least depreciating car? With the price of fuel hitting £1.40 a litre, many drivers might assume that the cost of filling up is the biggest motoring expense they face. In fact it is depreciation - the difference between the value of a car when you buy it and when you come to…
