The spoiler blades cost about £20, the standard ones cost £1.99.
They are supposed to stick to the screen and wipe better at speed.
I have the £1.99 blades on my car, never noticed any difference tbh.
They don't wear out any faster either.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

The one piece aero-blades are wonderful - I don't understand why they are still making the old-style ones - LOL - price of course.
Aero-blades divert insects and spray up over the windscreen even when not is use in rain - so screen says relatively bug-free.
You don't need to be doing motorway speeds to benefit.
Also not having any springy linkage and spaces - they do not collect snow and ice in wintertime.
They also do a much better job of clearing the screen - no smears or missing bits at all.
Don't get cheapy 'lookee-likee' ones made in the land of chop-sticks though.
On my recommendation a mate at work with the same car, bought a cheapy unheard of brand and came back to me saying that these aeroblades were just a con.
We swapped blades for a couple of days and neither of us could believe the difference - you DO get what you pay for - a bit like budget tyres.
My blades are Bosch ones - 3 years old and still work like they did when new - no scraping noises or juddering either as I used to have.0 -
Older blades could float above the screen surface at speed. The spoiler was designed to help push them onto the screen.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

If normal blades clean the screen effectively and without any judder then use them. If you are getting judder and/or smears or uneven cleaning then go for aero blades.0

I think there's some confusion going on here.
Spoiler blade
Aero blade0 -
Ah!
My apologies if I have contributed to the confusion.
I was talking about the one-piece aero-blades which are a great advancement. They are factory fitted to almost all new cars and are available as upgrades for almost all older vehicles.
Spoiler blades are a total waste of time. I had those things on my Freelander back in 2004 and I unclipped the spoiler bit and binned it within a couple of months as it made to difference to anything at all.0 -
Aero blades only for me for now on.
Couldn't go back to those clumsy spoiler blades.0 -
Same here, another benefit is they don't ice up like the old frame wipers.0

I got some aero blades from Tesco for £5 each. They have been fine.0

I use cheap aero blades they are more effective than bosch standard blades. First let me just say that the aerodynamic thing is just a con, the blade is just too small to make a difference. I think the reason why aero blades work better is because they are wider and therefore do not bend sideways.0
