Parking
Hi Can anyone tell me whether a local catering company can park its van, plus its attached mobile catering 'hog roast' trailer, outside of my house when it is not in use? I live on a high street and fully appreciate I have no legal right to a specific parking space, but it means we have to park elsewhere and blocks the…

Free Car
Has anyone heard of "drivefreecar.co.uk" the idea is that you receive a new car to drive. The catch is that you pay for the insurance and petrol, and the car has a company adver stuck on the car.

Hi there - sorry if in wrong forum, first post, so please play nice. I've just passed my driving test at age 30. Really needed a car for work and social reasons - no idea how I've lasted so long without one. I'm needing to buy a car that can get me to work (3 miles away) but also to use for work - not likely to exceed 100…

Smoking gun hit and run
Hi My car was damaged (white paint scuffs and cracked mirror case) possibly by a white car driven by a guy who was drunk and arrested for drunk driving. I have pictures of the damage and a police visit after I phoned linked (criminal damage) my damage to the drunk. It would now seem without any witness or evidence justice…

Ford Focus Heater Controls
I need to identify how to gain access to the control flaps on the heater element of a Ford Focus Titanium 1.8 on a 08 plate. I believe that the cable has become disconnected at the heater element end (I know that the cable is connected at the back of the theromostat dial on the central console). I can see that the heater…

Winter tyres
Just got the winter tyres out, and put them on the car. (Why do modern cars have nowhere to put a trolley jack under anymore?) Back two came off reasonably easy, and I've got the chinese m&s back on again. (note to self, new pads - metal on metal isn't good) The usual front wheel had welded itself onto the hub, so on a…

Best place to buy a VW 60s campervan?
Me and OH are saving up for a Campervan and wont have enough for another year at least. Want to start researching early and finding out the best places to look/avoid for buying an old VW Campervan. Are dealers better or is it best to go down to plymouth/cornwall and get from there? We live in Bham. Thanks :)

Selling old banger: advice needed.
Hi Everyone, I'm in a bit of a quandry here. We have a 14-year old car which we have owned for the last 11. It has been faultlessly reliable and our intention was to keep it going forever(ish). In March we spent out on two new tyres, an exhaust and some belts and it has also recently had a new catalyst. We have…

Dampness on driver's side..what could be the cause?
Only had this car about 3 weeks & recently noticed that the carpet on the drivers side is getting damp for some reason. I have rubber backed mats & when I lift the mat it's glistening with moisture. If I leave the mat out for a few hours the carpet does dry out. Just wondering what could be causing this? Not sure whether…

Advice on a potential dodgy repair
Hello, Right, background info. It's a Ford Mondeo 2001, I've owned for 1 year. So I took my car in for an MOT/Service last month and the garage rings up to tell me that there is the wrong sized spark plug in the one of the thingies (I'm not car knowledable). So they say they had to use considerable force to get it out of…

MOT lamda value
Just been collecting together documents related to my car, and noticed that when my car has its very first MOT in June the lambda value was near the 1.030 limit - actual was 1.026 I believe this is a calculated value, but does this mean my car is likely to fail its MOT next year?

removing points from licence
Hi, I'm asking on behalf of my boyfriend, honestly! He already has 6 points on his licence for speeding but 3 of them are from August 2007 so he could get them removed, but hasn't got round to it. Anyway yesterday he got another fixed penalty notice. My question is, when he sends off his licence for them to put on the new…
