Ford Focus Heater Controls

I need to identify how to gain access to the control flaps on the heater element of a Ford Focus Titanium 1.8 on a 08 plate.
I believe that the cable has become disconnected at the heater element end (I know that the cable is connected at the back of the theromostat dial on the central console).
I can see that the heater cable goes down the passanger side of the central console, but can not see the connection to the heater or the actual heater.
The problem is that the air is always cold.
